Glib Gibbs?
Well, “glib” doesn’t quite nail down the mendacity of his performances. How about “Fibber Gibbs”?
or glibberig fibber Gibbs
glib was just handy and quick... ultimately of Germanic origin; related to Dutch glibberig slippery and German glibberig slimy.
Hard to nail down.
I wasn’t aware of the Germanic origins or meaning. I’ve also thought of “glib” as meaning a smooth-talker, but slippery and slimy surely come much closer to characterizing Gibbs.
I also just ran across this definition: “marked by lack of intellectual depth” http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=PZY&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&defl=en&q=define:glib&sa=X&ei=ex5fTLn9NIH78Aaj2-WzDQ&ved=0CBIQkAE Yet another dimension to the word that fits Gibbs to a T!
