Cold War enemies the United States and Vietnam demonstrated their blossoming military relations Sunday as a U.S. nuclear supercarrier cruised in waters off the Southeast Asian nation's coast sending a message that China is not the region's only big player.
The visit comes 35 years after the Vietnam War as Washington and Hanoi are cozying up in a number of areas, from negotiating a controversial deal to share civilian nuclear fuel and technology to agreeing that China needs to work with its neighbors to resolve territorial claims in the South China Sea.

I think that I’m going to be sick.
Charlie don’t surf...
Only at the cost of U.S. POWs and MIAs held by the Communists in Vietnam and abandoned by the U.S. government!
Thank you, J.S. McCain and J. F’in Kerry!
Right after they turn over the torturers from the Hanoi Hilton in chains...
Well.. I don’t like it but,, I guess eventually you gotta talk to them.. we won that war on the ground but the worthless
Kennedys and the dems lost it in Washington.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend plays out again.
This warship is named after John S. McCain, Jr., and John S. McCain, Sr., both Admirals in the United States Navy.
Sometimes real life is stranger than fiction.
We should have done to Hanoi what we did to Dresden. The worst part is we haven’t lost the will to fight, but only the will to win. We have learned nothing.
sickening
Jimmy Carter perhaps? He has, after all, done it once before.
Amazing. I just purchased the HP Laserjet Pro P1102W through Amazon. Country of manufacture: Vietnam. I kid you not.
They were NOT in the business of printer manufacturing when I was there in 1966-67.
Great printer though. :)
“Amazing. I just purchased the HP Laserjet Pro P1102W through Amazon. Country of manufacture: Vietnam. I kid you not.”
That’s just the start of it. Many of our clothes are manufactured in Vietnam. Check the tags. Heck, I just bought a bag of frozen shrimp last week and only noticed when I got home the country of origin: Vietnam. Makes you wonder ... what shrimp would be better to eat ... shrimp from the dirty waters of Vietnam or shrimp from our oil-spilled Gulf of Mexico?
“China needs to work with its neighbors to resolve territorial claims in the South China Sea.”?
No it doesn’t.
China is the big dog on the block and they do not have gutless punks running the show over there like we do here.
If they Really want something they’ll simply take it and damn the consequences.
And who’s going to either stop or really put up a stink?
“Right after they turn over the torturers from the Hanoi Hilton in chains...”
Agreed. This does make me sick. I know the Vietnam of today (more capitalism, more Western-like) is not the Vietnam of 1968 but I believe the Communist government there has NEVER come clean about our POWs and MIAs. How many were sent to the Soviet Union? What was their fate? What happened to the 1,000 Americans who were never accounted for? These questions HAVE to be answered first.
So tell me, oh lurking Palinbots, is Sarah just naive and deluded, or is she what Communists refer to as a 'useful idiot'.?!?
She is none of the above, she is pragmatic.
I realize that you may have a problem with this but here goes, I would respect Sarah Palin less than you do if she stabbed in the back the person that gave her the chance to be Vice President or even President even if it was on your moral reasons.
We need someone that will lead this nation forward not someone that would turn on those that got them there in the first place.
I respect that she recognizes what John McCain has done for her.
Agreed. An old cynic once said that you can't tell who your enemies are without a calendar.
