One of the three convicted murderers who escaped from an Arizona prison has been linked to the deaths of a couple found in a burned-out camper, police said.
Forensic evidence links John McCluskey to the crime scene where two bodies were found in a camper near Santa Rosa, N.M., Arizona State Police Maj. Robert Shilling said, KOB-TV, Albuquerque, N.M., reported.
McCluskey escaped July 30 from the Arizona State Prison near Kingman with fellow inmates Tracy Province and Daniel Renwick, who was caught in Colorado after a police chase and shootout.
McCluskey's mother, Claudia Washburn, 68, was arrested Saturday at the general store she runs in the lower level of her home in Jake's Corner, Ariz., for allegedly helping the fugitives, KTVK-TV, Phoenix, reported.
She was charged with conspiracy to facilitate escape and hindering prosecution, officials said, partly by giving her son financial and other support.

A movie was made about Jake’s Corner, AZ. Filmed at the General Store. http://www.jakescornerthemovie.com/
Ah, the famous Jakes Corner. They probably drove there before heading to NM.
It’s a popular place to stop on route to Payson or Roosevelt Lake. The cook is a hoot. Would never eat the food unless you don’t mind cig ashes in your burger. The guy always had one dangling while cooking.
Anyone who aids these monsters should be charged as accessories in whatever crimes they commit.
I saw the story last night about these creepy evil guys were resposponsible for the death/burning of that retired couple.
Gave me the willies for sure.
I gave up camping/yurt style for health reasons but the last time I went (allot of Freepers were worried about future camping in America, no worries) with KV during the dog during the day (returned him home for medical overnight care and I went back to the yurt for a repite from such care that I normally provide)
my nieghbor was one of two camp hosts in the State Park (Oregon Coast we have awesome Parks).
He was an ex Marine who made it his “friendly” business to meet us.
He saw the dog and I told him the dog would be going home with KV (no dogs in yurts) and he said “dog what dog?” (cool got to keep him with me overnight).
I don’t think Freepers should worry, bring protection and be aware “say howdy” to your camping neighbors.
And just as young ladies often jog off alone on trails I say camp in two with protection even it that protection is a triple star ball and chain (if guns are not allowed lets say in that State park, here no problem it is normal to see them even racked in the rig being a hunting State)
McCluskey was serving a 15-year sentence for attempted murder. He is believed to be with Province and Casslyn Welch, his fiancee and cousin...
'splains a lot
The retired couple’s kids said that they both had concealed carry licenses. Wonder what happened....these animals must have presented themselves as decent and fooled them. Just a horrible situation.
I live near Jake’s Corner and have been there many times. It is a small 7-11 style store, a gas pump, and a bar that sometimes serves food. It is located adjacent to the Tonto National Forest and near a large recreation lake, Lake Roosevelt (named after Teddy), in central Arizona...an easy drive from Phoenix.
As far as the movie, the story is fictional but place is real. The picture on the movie poster is of the bar.
Sure is pretty up there.
