Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, appearing on CNNs State of the Union Sunday with Candy Crowley, had some harsh words for his Senate colleagues and for a system that thwarts any real bipartisanship. He said its up to the voters to let their members of Congress know enough is enough.
The public is rightfully upset about their Congress not delivering but when we try, groups on the left and the right just yell and scream. What I want to do is make sure that we can find a way to move forward. The current status quo is unacceptable. Be mad, get involved, insist that the Congress act better, Graham told voters.
To me the only way that we can move the country forward is to find common ground on the big ticket items. I hope that people in the country will start rewarding that more instead of punishing it.
Politics is driven by those on the left and the right--party activists with a stake in the current system and the stalemate. But thats not solving the nations problems, he said.
If we keep yelling at each other, said Graham, if we keep just saying no to each others ideas were going to have one thing in common. Were going nowhere together.

“Only Independents Can Fix Us...”
(paraphrased)
********************
I’m afraid this pvke is correct!
I agree with him.
Yes! We've had enough. More than enough of your RINO bull$hit. Time for you to step down for a real conservative Senator.
Only the country class — as opposed to the “ruling class” can fix it.
When are the voters of SC going to get rid of this guy?
I live in Michigan...I can understand a politician like this getting elected here...we have dozens of stupid representives.
I thought SC was a bastion of conservatism? What’s going on down there?
Lindsey has never learned the value of just keeping his mouth shut.
Lindsey Graham needs to be fixed.
That leaves you out, Flimsy Gramm.
You're beholden to the racist marxist machine.
If the Republican party can’t be salvaged then yes.
You’re joking, right?
Graham is 100% wrong. The road to tyranny is paved with compromises
Good, leave the GOP and start an independent party.
He had a Ron Paul Democrat opposing him last time but everybody here still rallied to Gomer Graham. Are those folks happy now?
The REAL answer is that no one can change the system and cut expenditures.
Why?
Because the Dems will rally their parasites and vote out anyone that votes for a reduction in spending and entitlements.
Even if the Dems did it (doubtful), the Repubs would scream about entitlement cuts, etc.
It has to blow up and there is no stopping it.
I think some extreme viewpoints help swing the pendulum back to some sort of normalcy. It happens about every 30 years with douchebag libs. Independents serve a purpose. I would tend to think tea partiers are more independent and right of right.
Why do these elitist clowns think we need to "go somewhere". Despite multitudes of manufactured crises designed to push a big government agenda, things were pretty good in this country, especially compared to the rest of the world. Their goal is to bring down the lifestyles of Americans to match the rest of the world, leaving an elitist ruling class at the top whose lifestyle is very good indeed.
Lindsey, we know where you want to take us, and we ain't going.
I would tend to think Freepers are on that fringe of conservatism that is not in line with mainstream Republican. If they weren’t, you would see “rino” thrown around so much.
We can be registered republican and have independant thought that is more convervative than the base. It helps bring issues and ideologies back in our favor.
