(R) Martinez Bought Supplies From Aide (NM Governor race)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | August 6, 2010 | Colleen Heild

Posted on 08/06/2010 8:19:47 PM PDT by CedarDave

The office of Doña Ana County District Attorney Susana Martinez bought more than $60,000 in office supplies from a home-based company owned by one of her top deputies and political ally.

There was no contract or competitive bidding process that covered the purchases from 2003 to 2005, and a former state auditor questions whether state law was followed.

But Martinez, the Republican gubernatorial candidate, said the arrangement was legal, had approval from two state agencies and saved the taxpayers money.

She also said she would do it all over again as governor, "so long as there was transparency in that transaction" and a cost savings was the result.

~~snip~~

Martinez also said DFA approved the payments and knew the vendor selling the supplies was owned by one of her employees.

The relationship was also reported in her office's annual audits for those years.

"The auditor actually referenced that very issue saying he was aware there had been purchases of office supplies and it had been through Titan and that all procedures had been complied with ...," Martinez told the Journal.

Martinez's gubernatorial campaign provided the specific pages of the audits where the arrangement was mentioned.

They are really scraping the bottom of the barrel on this. The incidents occurred back in 2003-2005 and involved purchases of copy paper, other office supplies and even a vacuum cleaner not subject at that time to the state procurement code. If you read the entire article, you will find that the purchases were reported and were referenced in audits of her office. This is not new information either; one primary opponent, Allen Weh, tried to use the same charges in the early June election where she easily defeated him.

Commie ‘RATS are pretty lucky. They don’t have to sling mud during political campaigns anymore. They have all of their whores and pimps in the mainstream media to do it for them.

Danish is pathetic. Her ads are ridiculous and that idiot Richardson has been trying his hardest to sink her chances. I hope we take over in the state legislature, so that those damn yuppies in Santa Fe start crying.

Unfortunately it was above the fold front page news in today's ABQ Journal.

I’m positive her primary opponent, Allen Weh, did the digging and the MSM is just picking up the ball and running with it.

I like her style, she didn’t do anything wrong and has the paperwork to prove it, and she isn’t apologizing for anything either. BTW, $20,000 per year in paper and office supplies does not sound like much for a DA’s office which of necessity generates reams of paper in prosecuting criminal cases.

Not to compare apples to oranges, but Richardson appointed more than several dozen of his cronies to cozy jobs created just for them at yearly salaries greater than all of her office purchases.

From what I’ve seen and heard from her, I believe she’d make a great governor. Good luck to her. Jan Brewer is lookin’ good here right now.

Bingo, not that they can’t do it. But it’s the volume and repetition the media does it in and the fact that Republican screw ups are the news and the Democrats are covered up as much as possible.

Also, they aren’t directly tied to the party officially plus the Democrats supply them with the opposition research.

Funny, ‘it saved us money’ is the exact response I got when querying a city councilman about our brand new cop cars, in a recession, and in a tiny town with almost no crime.

I wonder if this is a meme that often works...

Let me think about this...

At one point; I believe business was instructed to buy only from minorities. At least all the vendors were suppose to be minorities.
