The National Boy Scout Jamboree ended, Wednesday, and President Obama broke a quasi-tradition by declining to address the Scouts.
The quadrennial event has been held at Fort A.P. Hill near Washington D.C. since 1981. This year's event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the organization.
In lieu of an appearance at the 10-day-long Jamboree, Obama appeared on the View, attended several Democrat fundraisers and visited Detroit.
He did send a short videotaped message which reportedly was shown in a mix of several other presentations. When the president appeared he was roundly booed by the 35,000 Scouts, one man who was there said.

A heartwarming story. There is hope for the future.
Some of the Scouts in my son’s troop must have been badmouthing Obama after his election. The Troop leader, who is a big Obama fan and Dem, admonished the group during one meeting for any disparaging talk about Obama. Maybe I’m wrong in my thinking, but if the Scouts did boo Obama during the jamboree, I can’t say I’m disappointed.
Link to booing at post 23
Well. I would prefer the POSOTUS had no dealings with the scouts whatsoever. None, in the same way I prefer he has no dealings with the military.
He stands for EVERYTHING those organizations oppose, so I don’t think there is any way for him to address them without the stink of hypocrisy on him.
There has never been a more disgusting Homosexual in Chief that has ever been in the White House.
Perhaps the kids booed because they understand that Obama has stolen their future, their freedom, their liberty and the country they all love.
Obama fails at everything... he even fails our Boy Scouts.
Someone better save this before it disappears.
Who needs a film. We have Dan Rather’s word for it.
enjoy
That was my thinking as well.
I have been a Scouter for 12 years and I would be surprised if large numbers of Scouts at the Jamboree would be disrespectful of the Office of the Pres.
I guarantee, my Scouts would not.
A Scout is:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful,
Friendly, Courteous, Kind,
Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty,
Brave, Clean, Reverent
The O is the absolute personification of the old Navy admonition: If you encounter somebody who outranks you but you know as an incompetent, just salute the shirt.
He stands for nothing the Scouts stand for. His background puts him in complete opposition of good. I applaud every parent who involves their son in the Boy Scouts of America, beginning at the Cub level. It’s how to make a good man! And a good man is a Godly man. Congratulations to this fine organization.
Thanks for the vid.
(I wish sometimes that FR would have the ability to ping everyone who posted on a thread when a post is addressed to, “All.”
It would get abused, but we could turn it on or off at will like the preferences for the site.
But, Jim and his folks have enough to deal with at the moment.)
I think the Scouts are too courteous to do this en masse.
“..., just salute the shirt.”
You must mean “just salute the empty suit.” There. Fixed it!
I am an adult and would be hard pressed not to boo the guy.
I had the privelege of attending the 50th Anniversary in Colorado Springs in 1960. President Eisenhower rode in an open limo down a roadway packed on both sides with Scouts and their leaders. I am sure there were many who came from families who didn't like Ike and didn't vote for him. Nevertheless there were rousing cheers from all.
