The 14th Amendment was added after the Civil War in order to overrule the Supreme Court's Dred Scott decision, which had held that black slaves were not citizens of the United States. The precise purpose of the amendment was to stop sleazy Southern states from denying citizenship rights to newly freed slaves -- many of whom had roots in this country longer than a lot of white people.
Jay Leno just now told a joke that made it sound as if the anchor babies provision was in the original amendment passed in 1866.
I’m assuming the babies were with their mother when they invaded. This makes the babies just as guilty. Deport them.

Good work, Ann.
Now go back and do some research on the meaning of “Natural Born Citizen” and its relevance to the current occupant of the White House.
Every single damn repubbie needs to read and understand this. PERIOD
I doubt that the original intention of the 14th Amendment was to give illegal aliens a way to sneak into the U.S. and use our own Constitution against us as a way to receive government freebies. That’s exactly what it has turned into.
Ping...
All of the 14th amendment was unnecessary as Congress had already naturalized the former slave citizens under its naturalization powers in article 1 section 8.
The Dred Scott case did not forbid any African American from becoming a citizens nor could it as many already were in northern states. It merely said that the Federal government could not make bound slaves citizens due to the fact that it would be depriving someone of their property without just compensation.
This all became mute after the 13th amendment when nobody had slaves.
In reality the 14th amendment was mostly about vastly expanding the power of the radical republicans in congress to impose their will on the States and their people.
States now permanently bound to them by force of the sword rather then consent of the governed. (A fact they demonstrated at extraordinary expense in their then recent War of southern conquest).
In hindsight I think the 14th amendment and the civil war represent the worst and most un-American part of American history. The part where we betrayed the very principles upon which our republic was founded. The printable of self-government and popular solvently.
I get physical ill when I think about what they did now that I understand its full implications. :(
Liberty is not build upon, nor is it comparable with the state of unlimited and unconditional submission to a government. While slavery was admittedly a great blight in it self upon America and our history, I cannot connect it with with “Civil War” simply because the people fighting that war clearly and repeatedly emphasizes their reason for fighting the war had nothing to do with ending slavery.
If i am to take them at their word i cannot justify their actions to forcefully enslave entire populations and states with the ends of ending slavery, as that was NOT their ends.
History is written by the victory, but in this case the truth of history couldn’t be more self-evident. that it was morally contradictory to wage war to prevent the revolutionary separation of the southern States from the northern States.
Maybe Ann can help Goober get it straight....about the 14th amendment.
.
Help Texas watch her borders.
Watch live on 14 cameras and report illegal alien invaders.
Night cams in operation
http://www.blueservo.net/index.php?error=nlg
Does it work? Yes.
Recently caught on cam and reported:
String of illegals running through brush with backpacks
Numerous sightings of boats crossing the river
Numerous vehicles late at night in isolated areas
IMMENSELY satisfying.
