MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Chattanooga attorney Chuck Fleischmann has won the GOP primary in southeast Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District.

With 95 percent of precincts reporting, Fleischmann had 25,820 votes, or 29 percent of the vote, to former state GOP chairwoman Robin Smith's 24,968, or 28 percent.

Fleischmann won the endorsement of former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and mostly self-funded his campaign.

Fleischmann has two BIG negatives in my mind.

1. He’s associated with the King of pettiness and Mr. “chip on his shoulder” Mike Huckabee.

2. He’s a trial lawyer.

That being said, he seems conservative, and 99% of the time I will vote Republican over the Democrat except in extreme situations, so I’d support him.

The Club for Growth is a fiscal conservatve/economic freedom PAC that supports candidates that are like-minded. Huckabee hates them because they attacked him in the 2008 primaries.

What a horrible thing to say. I do not know what Fleischmann’s religious affiliation is or care. I only care if he is a real conservative.

The CFG is business oriented.

I like them but they are soft on amnesty and sort of neutral on social issues. I consider them an ally most of the time but if those issues are important to you (to me they are) then you’ll find they don’t always support a choice every conservative would like.

"The CFG is business oriented.

The one explains the other: there is a class of "Wall Street Journal Conservatives" who only see wetbacks as cheap labor, not as the threats to our culture and our very sovereignty that they are.

Huckabee, otoh, is a populist windbag who combines the worst of "The Kingfish" Huey P. Long and George C. Wallace.
His so-called "Fair Tax" proposal alone should be ample proof of that.

Anyone endorsed by Huckleberry is automatically suspect to me.

Chuck is a good guy. I would say he will be at least as dependable a conservative vote as the man (Zach Wamp) he will replace, and that’s better than average. Chuck IS a trial lawyer, but still one of the most honest people around. The association with Huckster is troubling, but he will be fine. Certainly NOT a RINO.

The Club for Growth is focussed on economic and fiscal conservatism. They are less focussed on social conservative issues. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

former state GOP chairwoman Robin Smith’s
_______________________________________________

What a classless act RINO Robin is..

She came into a luncheon today and insisted on speaking first “she had to catch a plane”

Why bother to come at all then ???

She spoke about “unity” and one big happy family of the the state Republican party blah blah blah...

admonishing us to get back together real quick and get working for Nov..

still running for office...

That was OK...now leave already...

But oh no not the drama queen...

After singing the praises of Tim Gobble and the other candidates...(Except Chuck)

she starts in ATTACKING THE GUY WHO WON...

Whats that about party unity Robin ???

right there in front of about 200 people Robin Smith threw one of her famous tizzy fits about the guy wildly accusing him of whatever because she lost ...

It was downright embarrassing..

What a hypocrite...

Party unity my butt...
