Sacrifice is something that many Americans are becoming all too familiar with during this economic downturn. It was a key theme in President Obama's inaugural address to the nation, and he's referenced it numerous times when lecturing the country on how to get back on its feet.

While many of us are struggling, the First Lady is spending the next few days in a five-star hotel on the chic Costa del Sol in southern Spain with 40 of her "closest friends."

To be clear, what the Obamas do with their money is one thing; what they do with ours is another. Transporting and housing the estimated 70 Secret Service agents who will flank the material girl will cost the taxpayers a pretty penny.
Perhaps it could be that the Obamas, who seem to fancy themselves more along the lines of international celebrities than actual leaders, espouse a different view of sacrifice. When Michelle Obama accompanied her husband to Copenhagen along with best buddy Oprah Winfrey, she billed the trip - an ultimately unsuccessful bid to bring the Olympics to Chicago - as follows: "As much of a sacrifice as people say this is for me or Oprah or the President to come for these few days, so many of you in this room have been working for years to bring this bid home."
A quick jaunt to Denmark is a sacrifice? What portraits in courage!
The Obama modus operandi is becoming clear. From lavish trips to Spain to reportedly flying Bo, the President's Portuguese water dog, on a separate aircraft to vacation with them in Maine, to a date night in New York City that perhaps cost nearly $100,000, their idea of austerity is really just the lap of luxury, at least for ordinary folks.

First Lady Michelle Obama smiles while visiting Marbella in southern part of Spain.
Does not matter where our taxes take her..she will always look like she just walked off the plantation in Georgia or Mississippi.
It’s good to be the king.
(No, that was not a mistake.)
and there are some poor schmucks being tossed out of their homes everyday due to this bad economy and being laid off and the money used for this little jaunt could rehome and feed a lot of people and get them back into work.
makes me sick to the core watching this.
Meanwhile, for those of you back home in the states, check your tire pressure. Low pressure can decrease your gas mileage. Turn off unused lights. Don’t let your water faucets run full blast all day. This can save you thousands of gallons of water. Set your air conditioning at 90 to save electricity.
I have been waiting for this comparison. There was a point in the movie where they showed eggs being cleaned by the servants so Marie and the kids could later gather them up. I then saw the cooking show which showed Michelle’s garden. It was perfect. I don’t know how many of you have tried to grow a small kitchen plot, but it is a ton of work for a small amount of produce. I know they have mountains of B.S. overflowing from the White House, but that broad isn’t weeding the beds.
And the Dems are planning on sending Michelle on the campaign trail. A big plus for our side.
These people are on permanent vacation.
And stop eating so much -- you little people are FAT!
IMHO, democrats treat the federal revenue as their own, in the first person. Republicans generally view their positions as custodians of their offices with more responsibility. Of course, there have been many Republican thieves. The only real answer is to defined the federal government.
Those hips have a right to dessert.
Re; blk/white one strap dress
This skank is a stain of the history of First Ladies.
She needs to cover up and try to show some dignity befitting her station.
“Does not matter where our taxes take her..she will always look like she just walked off the plantation in Georgia or Mississippi.”
You nailed it.
Gotta admit she’s got a great tan. Must be sun-bathing on the White House roof.
correction; Stain ON the history of American First Ladies..
Umph, leave Mississippi out of this, but gotta agree....
