TOKYO (AP) Survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are welcoming a decision by the United States to send its first ever delegation to a ceremony marking the anniversary of the attacks, but are asking for something they aren't likely to get an apology.
Tokyo has praised the decision to send U.S. Ambassador John Roos to the Hiroshima anniversary on Friday, though some survivors of the attack, which is seen by many in Japan as an unjustified use of excessive force against a civilian population, say they have mixed feelings.

God knows that in Manchuria they were preforming chemical and biological weapons experiments on the Chinese and sending out small balloons of vials as practice for conducting biological and chemical warfare.
Apologizing for A-Bomb will actually tick off the Chinese, who are overwhelmingly in favor of the dropping of the bomb since Japan was occupying China at the time.
If Obama apologizes for the A-Bomb he’ll have to immediately turn around to the China and apologize to them for apologizing to Japan.
My father would’ve as well. He was a motor pool sergeant on Leyte but he’d already been told that should Japan be invaded, he’d be going ashore at some point—maybe not in the first wave, but he’d be going there.
Had we been forced to invade Japan with the war prolonged, millions would’ve died on both sides while the Soviet Union took advantage to eat up all the Japanese spoils in Asia. (Don’t forget, the USSR invaded Manchuria on August 9, conquered it in mere days, and sent several hundred thousand Japanese POWs and settlers to the gulags, most never to return. After the firebombings and the A-bombs, that was the final nail in the coffin that convinced Hirohito to surrender.)
Two hundred thousand dead in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or ten million dead from war, disease, and famine after an invasion? Doesn’t seem like all *that* tough a choice.

A Japanese Civil War would have made the Korean War look like a walk in the park.
Drat, you beat me!
Little Boy and Fat Man saved the lives of TENS OF MILLIONS of Japanese.
Here’s a rather detailed account of what an actual invasion of Japan would have entailed:

I think majority of Japanese actually agree with you. Most people I talked to there while obviously not being fans of nuclear weapons understood that total war is total. Japanese fought one as well with Kamikazi and all and ended up loosing. Same as Japanese will never apologize for waging total war most really do not expect anyone to apologize to them. Many are annoyed that after all of the aid they poured into Korea Korean’s are still mad at them. Chinese complaints they just view as pure political crying.
I went to the area where one of the landings was supposed to happen (not sure if true thats what guide told me) and while not nearly as crazy terrain as other parts of Japan. Attacking that would have been incredibly costly, add to that Kamikazi attacking with little radar warning (unlike Okinawa) and the whole thing could go very much south.
I think appearing at the Hiroshima memorial to prostrate ourselves is a cleansing, aura enhancing event a lot like clearing your chakra with an older masseuse.
It's getting harder and harder to follow the news without nausea medicine.

Or alcohol
one would think obama would make a personal appearance, bow and apologize for our attrocities....
&&&
That just may happen yet.
The Nips killed millions of Chinese. They have never apologized for any of their murders.
Let’s just bomb them again.
“It was Dolphin & Whale”!
In light of the “9/11 Mosque” at ground zero, I propose that we build a United States Airforce Community Center at ground zero in Hiroshima, with a B-29 Bomber replica mounted in front as a memorial to America’s community service to that city. /s
No, I am not being cruel to the Japanese. The satire is purely on the stupidity of a mosque at ground zero.
Sorry, that should be United States Air Force.
P.S. We can call it: Pearl Harbor House. Nice touch, huh?
Oh, yeah, I left out "Pink Lady and Jeff."
The Mothra singers!
No, it was to END unjustified force against civilian populations. I don’t mind the japs, but they really need to learn their own history.
