Piper Laurie (born Rosetta Jacobs, January 22, 1932) is an American actress of stage and screen best known for her roles in the television series Twin Peaks and the films The Hustler and Carrie, both of which brought her Academy Award nominations.
Piper was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Jewish parents, Charlotte Sadie Alperin and Alfred Jacobs, a furniture dealer. Her father was a Polish immigrant, and her mother is Russian-American. She moved to Los Angeles before she was 18. She signed a contract with Universal Studios when she was 17, co-starring with Ronald Reagan (whom she dated a couple of times before his marriage to Nancy Davis) in “Louisa.”

i’ve known several women that were named Piper, but that’s the only famous one I could recall offhand.
I’ve also known a couple of “Willows” as well.
Guess it comes from living in California, plenty of weird names here.
The only really odd names in the bunch are Track and Trig. Not the choices I would have made, but they’re her kids, not mine.
If I were naming kids some off-the-beaten-path names, I’d put them in as middle names, rather than the first ones.
