Holliday said Thornton had been complaining to relatives that in several years he worked at Hartford Distributors he was confronted with blatant racism.
Holliday said, “He had some instances of racism at the company. They were hanging nooses in the bathroom and writing stuff like that. They were singling him out because he was the only black person there in that area.”

On my local news site this AM. From a cursory read it looks like he stole some beer, his employers caught him on camera and read him the riot act, he goes postal on a bunch of fellow employees and it’s all due to a picture of a noose. Have I got that about right?

I'm confused, why would they do an investigation if he never filed a complaint? Doesn't the complaint have to come first or was this investigation begun yesterday after the shooting? What's the timeline?
