It's relevant because this Escoffery character doesn't have a prayer against Crist in the general. He has no name recognition and money. If he wins the primary, he will be immediately written off.
If Rubio cannot beat such a candidate in the primary (underfunded, no name recognition) how can he hope to beat Crist in the general? The main problem such a challenge brings is that if Rubio takes it seriously (he should), then he might make a gaffe in campaigning. If he is impolite of perceived as such, he risks alienating some of his base. Most politicians (and especially their managers) don't like variables thrown into primaries. For us, it is a good opportunity to get him on the record on issues we care about.

He is on the record on the issues. He's been running for Senate for a year now. Obviously, you don't care about his record and would rather crash and burn pushing your 1%er.

Since you brought up the whole “impolite” thing... Marco Rubio has already gone there.. he has refused to attend at least one event that Dr. Escoffery was going to be present at in order to avoid going head to head with him. I do not have the details on this but I will get it if my fellow FReepers are interested.
