ObamaCare’ initiative ( Colorado push back )
DDN ^ | August 2, 2010 | Peter Marcus

Posted on 08/03/2010 8:20:25 AM PDT by george76

Libertarian Jon Caldara on Friday submitted more than 130,000 signatures to the Secretary of State’s office seeking to place a question on the November ballot asking voters to exempt Colorado from major portions of federal health reform signed by President Obama...

The Health Care Choice for Colorado initiative asks voters to exempt Colorado from recent federal health care reform, including a provision requiring citizens and business owners to buy health insurance or pay a penalty. Caldara says the initiative would also prevent the government from forcing people into a public or private health care plan against their will.

Caldara acknowledges that if his initiative is backed by voters, it will likely be challenged in court.

Meanwhile, Republican Attorney General John Suthers has joined with 19 other states in a lawsuit to exempt Colorado from provisions of the sweeping health care overhaul. The lawsuit alleges that Congress does not have the authority to regulate interstate commerce that would force consumers to carry health insurance.

The U.S. Department of Justice in June filed a motion to dismiss the constitutional challenge to the federal health care overhaul. A response is expected this week.

Republican state lawmakers are also planning legislation that would exempt Colorado from a federal mandate requiring all citizens to buy insurance or pay a penalty

No one wants it, the Feds lied to us about it, they did not listen to Us when We the People said “NO!” and it’s not a power granted to the Federal govt in the Constitution.

THROW THE TRASH OUT!

Get rid of the steaming pile called the Health Care Bill.

REPEAL!!!

And so it begins...

San Francisco is considering an ordinance that will tax hamburgers "because they are unhealthy". The legal argument that will be used is that, because of national health insurance, eating "unhealthy" foods (the gov't gets to decide that, evidently) imposes a cost on others so we need to pass another tax to cover your eating habits. Brace yourself, folks, it's only going to get worse.

Didn’t Colorado go for the O in the presidential election? I am shocked that they now might be reconsidering their support.

We need your help!

If you know anyone who lives in Missouri please contact them and tell them to vote YES today on the Health Care Freedom Act, Proposition C.

The President and Congress have given us a health care reform package that will force people into government-defined health plans and penalize them for paying for services with cash!

Missouri’s Proposition C, on the August 3 primary ballot, will protect us from those government mandates by expressly stating that the government may not “penalize citizens for refusing to purchase private health insurance or infringe upon the right to offer or accept direct payment for lawful healthcare services.”

Furthermore, the August 3 vote is the FIRST TIME any voters in the country will have the opportunity to vote yes in order to protect their freedom from government regulation.

Libertarian Jon Caldara

I always thought of Jon as a Conservative
not a libertarian.

The Independence Institute is a Conservative think tank.

Who are the Denver Daily News ?

Unemployed leftists from the Rocky or the Compost?

We recently had the govt say, “All your rainwater are belong to us” and “Farmers, you are not allowed to make dust”

We need to vote to entirely dismantle the Federal Government. they aren't doing their primary job of protecting our borders.

We have foreign invaders occupying a park in Arizona and the Feds are doing NOTHING.

They are useless + destructive.

The sooner the American people face the reality that this is a premeditated plan for genocide of the elderly and disabled and whomever else the Ruling Class deems their enemies, the faster we can vote out the perpetrators and demand this be dismantled similar to trying Eichmann and his cohorts at Nuremberg.

Not Colorado - just Denver, Boulder, and Pueblo counties primarily (full of either unions or hippies)...but enough of them to tilt the state purple.

Coloradans can learn, though...just watch in November when all but the Governor's races (that one is due to the GOP circular firing squad phenomenon) tilt right.

Markey will be given her walking papers in NE Colorado, NONE too soon...her polling numbers are INCREDIBLY soft...

From your lips to God's ears! FWIW, I think you are spot on. I think we'll also get back a Senate seat. But for Tom TancrEGO we would have gotten the Governor's mansion too.
