Workplace shooting in Manchester, CT. Budwiser distributer. Three dead. Story is developing.
Sources said Omar S. Thornton, 34, was a driver for the company and was described by a Teamsters Union official as a recent hire and a “disciplinary problem.”
“The union was bringing him in to meet with the company to remedy the problem,” said John Hollis, a Teamsters official. “He started shooting.”
Steve Hollander, a member of the family that founded and owns the company, is one of the wounded, a police source said. He was shot in the neck, the source said.
Another shooting victim was identified as Bryan Cirigliano, 51, of Newington, by a man at Hartford Hospital who said he was Cirigliano’s brother. Bryan Cirigliano is the president of the Teamsters Local that represents drivers at Hartford Distributors.
A warehouse driver who was asked to resign his job at a beer distributor refused, then opened fire Tuesday morning, a company executive said. Police said the gunman and several other people were killed and others were wounded, one critically.
People have a responsiblity to not make fun at the expense of others’ grief.
If you do not understand that, you might need to look inward.
Nothing is funny when it mocks a tragedy.
Perceived poor taste. Indefensible. Whatever.
Rolling my eyes, changing the channel.
But first:
For those who have been senselessly lost by the actions of a lunatic today, may their memory be eternal.
vice president at the company, was shot in the arm and the face, Mr. Hollander said, but he thought he would be OK. It was not clear if he was among the victims taken to Hartford Hospital.
The gunman was a driver who had worked at the distributor for a couple of years and been called in for a disciplinary hearing, said John Hollis of the Connecticut Teamsters, who’s with company officials at the scene of the shooting.
Mr. Hollander, whose family owns the distributor, said he did not know the shooter well.
Who did I mock? And of whom did I make fun?
On the contrary, I understand perfectly. I explained my intentions and shan’t do so again.
Good day to you, now.
inre #24. I’m with ya, man.
Budweiser is a union label.
Your link says 8 people dead then further down says 3. Hopefully it's just due to the confusion right now and the 8 was a typo or misinformation.
Good Lord, Man50. Are you still here?
With regard to the lovely personal images you just painted about me being killed at the hands of a mad gunman, well, if I can get my hand on the gun before he pulls the trigger, he’ll have a fight on his hands. If not, I guess I’m a goner and you can make fun of me.
No I ask you, who’s the @$$hole? One guy makes an insensitive attempt at levity (and apologizes when people take offense) and another guy responds to him “I promise to make jokes and laugh if a gunmen [sic] points a gun to your head and blows your brains out.”
I’m not trying to change anything about you, sir. Not a thing.
I did, however, attempt to explain my intent (it was honorable) and I did, in fact, ask your forgiveness if my ham-handed attempt at levity offended you. I will also admit to being a little irritated that what I (again) thought was an attempt at light heartness was not perceived as such. Please also, all of you, forgive my initial irritation.
If that’s not good enough, c’est la vie. We can agree not to talk, then?
No one cares about your intent. What are you a big Nancy?
Just take your cruel comments and repulsive behavior and move on you big creep.
I believe it is up to 8 now, was initially thought to be 3. Very very sad.
Ma’am, you don’t know me from Adam’s Housecat.
NICE ad hominem, though. I appreciate it. Pretty par for the course around here, I’m coming to understand all too well.
Thank God I don’t have to stand before YOUR white throne.
Very sad indeed. Just think, they headed to work this morning without a clue they wouldn’t make it through the first few hours of the day.
"Terminally self-important, drunk and posting on a public forum is no way to go through life, son"
Now THAT’S funny. Love it.
LOVE the tag line, man.
