>>> It is a brand spanking new army. Of course it is totally constitutional. /s

So many people think history begins in 2001. History books are good things.

When a dozen marines invaded the original Shores of Tripoli, their army consisted of hundreds of local mercenaries. Letters of Marque and Reprisal and militia too. From the nation’s very beginning the idea of alternative and supplemental military force has always been on the table.

when the bullets start flying, they’re ALL combat troops...

Yup. You'll notice how scornful I was of the faux distinction.

Wasn’t that the Bush/Petraeus plan?

Most of the surge combat forces would be removed in 2010 - another 50K or so troops still there permanently?

50,000 will still be there. 6 “Advisory and Assistance” Brigades.

The only difference between a Brigade Combat Team and an AAB is the AAB has extra officers/NCOs for the training teams. An AAB is a reinforced BCT.

The headline is pure political BS.

On the money. Petraeus briefed congress on this plan in 2007.

The only thing changed by the current administration is where the General listed “Strategic Overwatch” Brigades, they have renamed them as “Advisory and Assistance” Brigades. This is the stage that we go to 6. Next summer we drop to 4.

An AAB is a reinforced Brigade Combat Team...

The mission post Nov 2008 is pure BS. Idiots who watch TV elected a saudi mole. It is all about the american islamic govt helping terrorists kill American soldiers in iraq and Afghanistan for the entertainment of the Saudis and Islam.

Menawhile a few certain jacko*fs & PX rats on FR bash LTC Lakin.

>>>””Remember, our nation has had vigorous debates about the Iraq War,” Obama said in a speech at the Disabled American Veterans’ national convention in Atlanta.”

Something to be said about the wisdom of that ancient Chinese military genius (Sun Tzu): “Every battle is won [or lost] before it is ever fought.”

Just depends on how we in the West interpret & view “winning” or “losing”, for example, in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I agree—just in time to prop up his base for the November elections. I didn’t hear the troops were coming home, just being withdrawn. Will they be sent to Afghanistan? You know—Obama’s good war? /s

The wars were lost Nov 2008. There never really was a strategy. When you have open borders - you have no strategy.

It is far far worse than that. I have some POS PX rats who hitched up to get cheap booze attacking LTC Lakin on FR. The country put a muslim in charge.

Ball games, reality TV, wrestling, Hee Haw, Jersey Shore, NCAA ball games and other inane BS on the propaganda tube (all channels including Fox/Saudia) watched by idiots turne dthe power over to the Islamists. I cancelled TV a year ago because it is all leftist propaganda.

Are you referring to ‘open borders’ around the U.S. itself ? Or, Iraq/Afghanistan?

Open borders in the US. 9/11 happened because Muslims and everyone else was flooding in and political correctness. Nothing has changed. Waste of time, money and lives. They want our best and bravest as far away from IslamoAmerica as they can get them.

Keep watching ball games and TV stooges.

I agree.

Hope that was a general statement, and not an advice to me.

"Don't forget about the new State department army that was formed for this. "

Didn't the NAZI'S also have a slew of seperate armies for each of it's departments and different minsters? SS, Waffen SS, Gestapo (had it's own army), SA, Luftwaffe (had it's own army), and more?

Takes you back to the good old days don't it?

Except for the 50,000 "transition" troops who will be staying until who knows when.

According to Article 24 of the SOFA [pg 19 & 20] 31 Dec 2011

Obama wants to claim we’ll have withdrawn by then as a campaign talking point for his loony left base.

Exactly. I look around, and I still see a lot of people carrying weapons.
