Oh, Please! Port Richmond was always a working class to poor neighborhood. It was never "stately" and was basically an industrial area/shopping area that faded as Staten Island deindustrialized and retail development shifted to the South Shore.

Basically, the welfare class blacks are robbing (illegal) Mexicans of their paychecks. Been going on for years.

Port Richmond was stately at the beginning of the last century. It became industrialized with time and then became what it is now. My husband worked with attorneys whose parents had law offices there 70 years ago and can attest to the major decline of the area. Port Richmond was crappy 35 years ago when I moved to Staten Island and has declined even further.
