How did Sharron Angle blow an 11-point lead in seven weeks? (Did we pick the wrong candidate?)
Christian Science Monitor ^ | July 28, 2010 | Brad Knickerbocker

Just a few weeks ago, Senate majority leader Harry Reid seemed headed for political flameout. Nevadans were down on their senior senator, according to the polls. The “tea party” movement was zeroing in on him as representative of all that’s wrong with big-government politics back in Washington. And it looked like any of his likely GOP opponents could beat the four-term incumbent in November.

Shortly after Nevada Republicans chose former state assemblywoman Sharron Angle to run against Reid, the beleaguered Democrat was trailing his opponent by 11 percentage points in a Rasmussen Reports poll of likely Nevada voters.

But things can change in a hurry.

Reid has moved ahead of Ms. Angle in the polls – by as much as seven points in the latest Mason-Dixon Polling & Research survey for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The Angle campaign – with help from an increasingly worried national party – is having to beef up its campaign staff with outside professionals. And Angle is scrambling to change the subject regarding her earlier controversial positions and assertions.

She's made some serious campaign gaffes. She is proving that she can pull defeat from the jaws of victory. Did we pick the wrong candidate to go up against Harry Reid?

O.K., I'm ready to take my licks. Comments?

I guess the millions Reid poured had nothing to do with it? He would have done the same to other candidates and the result would have been the same. The difference is that she can handle it and will retake the lead. Besides, the CSM are a bunch of liberals.

She didn’t do anything wrong. Dingy Harry just spent $3Million on an ad campaign.

The simple truth is this:

Harry Reid is, by far, the NASTIEST, meanest campaigner in the entire nation.

Of course the GOP picked the wrong candidate. That was obvious BEFORE she took the lead. There are some states you have to pull back a little bit and not go too conservative. Only the GOP could screw this up and allow Dingy to win, but that’s exactly what they’ve done.

Unfortunate, but reality that many of us have said here for a few months (only to be attacked for saying it).

Harry lives and will win because the voters in the primary went way too far right.

Yeah, but what do the real polls say?
What does Rasmussen say? I'd trust them to be at least the closest.

Agreed. I don't put myself as the same part of the "we" camp as the 'Science Christian Monitor'... whatever the heck they are.

Well if Harry is ahead let’s hope his supporters don’t bother to show up and vote.

I don’t think it was that she did something wrong. I think Harry had a LOT of drug company money come in. I remember reading something about that.

This article, already posted here, quotes an old version of a poll.
The newest version of the same poll gives Angle a slight lead.
Reid has spent 11 million bashing her and he still can't get ove %50.

Anyone that thought that REID wouldn’t pull every dirty trick in the book is smoking funny cigs.

It is a Goliath story, SHE will WIN.

Nothing was done wrong. Reid is pouring in serious $$$ and in desperation mode. Some of the crap the Reid campaign is spewing is nauseating.

Reid is toast. To my knowledge, he has yet to break the 50% barrier.

I have no use for the Christian Science Monitor but I do think that Sharron Angle has her work cut out for her.

She had better get to it in a hurry of we will be stuck with this 21st century version of a 19th century Deadwood USA style Undertaker for another six years!

“...Besides, the CSM are a bunch of liberals.”

Thanks for posting that. It was my first thought that the anus orifice Leftist Journolies at the CSM are trying to make it seem Angle is dead meat. Just a ruse to help good ol’ Harry.

Dirty tricks afoot.

Polls are can’t be trusted. The Dems can’t be trusted. If I were in NV, I’d vote for her because there is no way I’d vote for Reid, or any Democrat for that matter. Watch the Dems trying to steal this election. It’s what they’re good at. Think Al Franken.
