An influential Jewish organization on Friday announced its opposition to a proposed Islamic center and mosque two blocks north of ground zero in Lower Manhattan, intensifying a fierce national debate about the limits of religious freedom and the meaning of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The decision by the group, the Anti-Defamation League, touched...
--snip--
Those who are fighting the project argue that building a house of Muslim worship so close to ground zero is at best an affront to the families of those who died there and at worst an act of aggression that would, they say, mark the place where radical Islam achieved a blow against the United States.
The World Trade Center is the largest loss of American life on our soil since the Civil War, Mr. Gingrich said. And we have not rebuilt it, which drives people crazy. And in that setting, we are told, why dont we have a 13-story mosque and community center?
He added: The average American just thinks this is a political statement. Its not about religion, and is clearly an aggressive act that is offensive.
Several family members of victims at the World Trade Center have weighed in against the plan, saying it would desecrate what amounts to a graveyard. When I look over there and see a mosque, its going to hurt, C. Lee Hanson, whose son, Peter, was killed in the attacks, said at a recent public hearing. Build it someplace else.
--snip--
City officials, particularly Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, have forcefully defended the project on the grounds of religious freedom, saying that government has no place dictating where a house of worship is located. The local community board has given overwhelming backing to the project, and the citys landmarks commission is expected to do the same on Tuesday...

Sounds like the muzzie plan of infiltration is going along swimmingly.

Its so obvious that these Muslims are taunting the victims, their families and America with the name and location of this project.
Sure, its obvious to people with common sense, which rules out libs like the mayor of NYC.

This is a monument to an Isalmic victory in their eyes. Muzzies have done this kind of thing for centuries. Normally they like to build these things up on top of the ruins of their victims' houses of worship.
Bloomberg and the morons in NY are enabling this behavior.

I say it will be OK to build a mosque at ground zero one month after I attend a Christian service in a new church building in downtown Mecca. This is what I would call tolerance and until that happens I would tell them “Go fly a kite”

Can you imagine, every September, 11th, from 2011 and on.........as the families read the names of those slaughtered, they are drown out by the muslim call to prayer being blasted down the street.
I dare say that building won't stand long.

The Obama agenda, a Congress out of control, Depression-style unemployment at over 9 percent for two years (not since the 1930s), BP Oil Leak, Rangel and Waters trials, Obama memo re: pushing through Amnesty without Congressional action/approval:
All of the above is why the GOP has a good chance of re-taking both Houses of Congress in November. And now, something like this can just further alienate Obama and the Dems from the average, everyday, working, Patriotic Americans and cause a revolt at the polls on November 2 that will make 1994 look like a picnic in the Rose Garden.

You have my deepest sympathy for your loss, but appealing to the sympathy of radical islam is just playing into their hands. Your statement will get a response from the imams that goes something like, "Hah! The Americans are weak crybabies, and we will conquer them easily, praise [Satan]!"
