in response to the rest of your post. Up until this afternoon I figured I was going to be “forced” to vote for Rubio in the Primary until I got an e-mail from a friend asking me to take a look at Dr. Escoffery who I had never heard of. Instead of duing “internet research” I picked up my phone and called him. After a brief conversation I came to the conclusion that his story should be told and let the voters decide. I plan to help him clean up his website and help get his message out to as many Floridians as possible between now and the Primary (August 24th). Forget the “name recogination” and compare the LIFE STORY of Mr. Rubio and Dr. Escoffery and decide based on that who will BEST represent the State of Florida in the U.S. Senate.

Using that criteria I believe Dr. Escoffery wins hands down. HOWEVER, as a realist, I understand most voters will NOT take the time to do that and just pull the lever for the GOP’s “favorite” and that is a tragic. I hope the conservative people of Florida prove me wrong and vote for Dr. Escoffery for U.S. Senate on August 24th 2010.

I appreciate your sincerity, but I'd like to put the question to you again. What specifically makes you prefer Dr. Escoffery to Mr. Rubio? So far, you seem to like his life history better, but you didn't explain what about his life history attracts you. Furthermore, you didn't explain how that life history will make him a more effective senator in Washington. A nice life history is nice, but I'd really want someone who could be effective in the office. As long as you are using Free Republic to advocate for this man, you might want to be a little more specific. Until people hear some specifics, they are less likely to look at a website that you admit has weaknesses.

A second point is that helping him clean up the website isn't going to be effective without a huge amount of other work. For the candidates that no one knows, the most important first step is making personal contacts. If you are going to push his campaign, you are going to have to go door to door telling people that he is running and asking for their votes. Only if you are willing to make that effort is there any chance for his website to do any good for him. You can't reach that many people going door to door alone, so you're going to have to recruit people into his campaign. Each of them will need to go door to door. That kind of personal campaigning can be horribly awkward and tiring, but that's what wins elections.
