Iran stoning sentence woman asks to be reunited with her children
Guardian News ^ | 30 July 2010 | Saeed Kamali Dehghan

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year-old mother of two, said she thinks of nothing other than hugging her children and that she was mentally broken when authorities flogged her 99 times in front of her then 17-year-old son, Sajad.

She thanked the world for launching the campaign for her release but said part of her "heart is frozen". "Every night before I go to sleep, I think who would throw stones at me?", she said.

The message was read by Mina Ahadi, of the Iran Committee against Stoning (ICAS), at a press conference in Conway Hall, in London, this morning .

"Put Sakineh's picture beside Neda Agha-Soltan's and don't let Iran repeat what it did with Neda again with Sakineh," said Ahadi, an Iranian human rights activist. Agha-Soltan was shot to death in the aftermath of Iran's disputed election in June 2009 and became a symbol of Iran's post-election rebellion.

answer, those who falsely think they have not sinned, not that she is even guilty, they probably want to stone her because she would not commit adultery with them.
Islam is perverted and without the living God..Islam is a lie.

All those that condemn Christianity for its failures....take a look at this...It is unbelievable that 2000 years after Christ stood up for the woman that was to be stoned...we have a President who can not stand up for this woman ...He is a Christian??? Really?

America has always stood up for compassion and decency...despite what Bill Ayers and all the lefties yap about!

Saul alinksy’s biggest fan-—Hillary Clinton—spends an obscene fortune on her daughters wedding...Hey, welcome to the new Commie Elite!

Why is Hillary....the Feminist supposedly—not standing and shouting with Outrage about this tragedy!!!
who would throw stones?? Hillary is the first by her silence.

...after Christ stood up for the woman that was to be stoned

Jesus didn't stand up for that adulteress. He was merely demanding they follow the Law of Moses - which He Himself had given. The witnesses to the crime were required to start the rock-throwing. If none of them would do so (*for reasons about which we can reasonably speculate in this case), there was no stoning.

* The Law required that false witnesses were to receive the very punishment due for the crime about which they testified falsely. In this case, a false witness would've been stoned to death. So, if this crime was nothing more than a setup intended to trap Jesus, whoever stepped forward as a (false) witness, casting the first stone, would be in jeopardy of his life.

The fact that they all walked away indicates there was more to the adultery story than just adultery. Jesus didn't stand up for the adulteress. He stood up against those who were involved in the setup.

no, he said, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” He stood up for her by invoking the spirit of the law.

Are you suggesting that the criminal punishments in the Law of Moses were to be carried out only by people who had never sinned?

I’m not. Jesus was at that moment.

Surely you’re not suggesting Jesus contradicted the Law He gave to Israel? Why, that’s exactly the trap the scribes and Pharisees were trying:

“’Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?’ This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him.”

You are probably correct...I have not researched that as much as you have.

But the message —the spirit was also protective of the woman...and Jesus’ whole mission was woven through and through with supporting and lifitng up women from “laws’ that persecuted them.

Jesus was the first “feminist” in that he was raising women up as equals and deserving of fair and decent treatment and denouncing previous treatment of women that was cruel, unfair and demeaning.

Who would throw stones at her?

MUSLIMS

Her ‘religion’ did this to her. You’d think a few rocks upside the head would have driven that home.
Live by the death cult-die by the death cult.

The Law of Moses was a blessing to Israel, to both women and men alike. Unlike Islam, it required the execution of both adulterers and adulteresses. You couldn’t escape death-by-stoning simply because you were a man. There wasn’t one criminal code for men and another for women.

A man had, of course, his place, and a woman hers. They were treated differently in some (common-sense) cases, but adultery wasn’t one of them.

In short, the Law of Moses which Jesus gave to His chosen people elevated both men and women to their proper place. Christianity does the same today.
