Did Moran staffer make threats?

--- "But Patricia Stoneking of the Kansas State Rifle Association and David Gittrich of the Kansans for Life PAC both said Moran campaign manager Todd Novascone — a former state representative from Andover — threatened that their groups would be sorry that they endorsed Tiahrt. Gittrich also claims that Novascone said he had a lot of dirt on Gittrich going back to high school. Tiahrt spokeswoman Michelle Schroeder responded: “Kansans should not have to fear Chicago-style threats from Congressman Moran or his staff simply because they don’t support his campaign.”

Jerry Moran has been a thorn in the side of grass roots conservatives for as long as I can remember. Moran thinks he OWNS every political decision, made in "his" district, and Moran thinks he can control everything, from the State Legislature on down, if it is in "his" Congressional District. Moran is not content with simply having an "endorsement" or even a kind word, from a conservative group. Moran thinks he can TELL conservative groups who to support. Moran has always been angry with grass roots activists who think for themselves. With my own ears, I heard Jerry Moran refer to conservatives as "Wingers"!

Moran is a bit of a tyrant, and Moran has ALWAYS acted this way. However, Moran usually has his stooges do his dirty work, for him, as he did in this case.

Vote for and support Todd Tiahrt, A true gentleman!

Congressman Jerry Moran’s U.S. Senate campaign is conducting a cover up about his voting record as a Kansas Senator and then unwisely has attacked opponent Todd Tiahrt’s campaign for running an ad that tells the truth. The ad reveals:

“inexcusably, Congressman Moran objected to parents’ rights, and responsibilities… when he voted against parental notification. Not once, but twice.”
Kansans for Life Executive Director, Mary Kay Culp, released a media statement Monday night on behalf of the KFL -PAC (Political Action Committee) based on documentation that shows Moran did vote against parental consent in 1989, and against parental notification in 1990 and 1991. At the time of these votes, Moran expressed NO pro-life concerns– in fact, Moran officially joined the written explanations of pro-abortion Kansas Senators in 1990!

It seems that the many failed political cover-up lessons have not been learned by Moran’s camp. Kansans want the truth, not newly-concocted defenses that don’t hold water… to wit, that he voted FOR his Catholic constituents by voting AGAINST the parental bills supported by the Kansas Catholic Conference, as well as KFL, Concerned Women for America and others. What we see is that:

1.as a Senator for the more liberal Hays district, Moran voted with the abortion industry;

2.then, as a Congressman for the pro-life First District, he voted pro-life;

3.now that he is running to represent the entire state, which includes several abortion strongholds, will he vote pro-life?
A recent fundraiser for Moran by pro-abortion Republicans, shows they have decided who the weaker pro-life candidate is. This is problematic, when combined with Moran’s flawed excuse. (see press release for more details)

Todd and I want to warmly thank you for your support for his Senate campaign. Because of your help and a tremendous grassroots effort, Todd is in a very good position to be the next Senator from KS. We are sprinting for the next 4 days to a victory on August 3rd.

Unfortunately, Congressman Moran’s campaign is so out of control that he has crossed the line. For reasons only Congressman Moran can explain, he has brought Chicago style gutter politics into our Kansas homes.

Congressman Moran’s campaign has threatened and attempted to intimidate our supporters. Last spring, young women involved with the Kansas College Republicans were threatened with a lawsuit unless they withdrew their endorsement of Todd Tiahrt for Senate.

Just this week we learned Congressman Moran’s campaign called and threatened Patricia Stoneking of the Kansas State Rifle Association for her group’s courageous decision to endorse Todd.

Then it was discovered that David Gittrich with Kansans for Life was threatened after KFL released their endorsement of Todd Tiahrt.

Congressman Moran’s inappropriate threats and intimidation tactics toward Kansas citizens has to end. Kansans should not have to fear Chicago-style threats from Congressman Moran simply because they don’t support his campaign.

Enough is enough! When Kansans who support Todd Tiahrt get threatening calls from Congressman Moran’s campaign - we must put a stop to it. Let Congressman Moran know that his desperate threats and intimidation tactics have no place in Kansas !
