Obama the Velcro president
LATimes ^ | July 30, 2010 | Peter Nicholas and Janet Hook,

If Ronald Reagan was the classic Teflon president, Barack Obama is made of Velcro.

Through two terms, Reagan eluded much of the responsibility for recession and foreign policy scandal. In less than two years, Obama has become ensnared in blame.

Hoping to better insulate Obama, White House aides have sought to give other Cabinet officials a higher profile and additional public exposure. They are also crafting new ways to explain the president's policies to a skeptical public.

But Obama remains the colossus of his administration — to a point where trouble anywhere in the world is often his to solve.

The president is on the hook to repair the Gulf Coast oil spill disaster, stabilize Afghanistan, help fix Greece's ailing economy and do right by Shirley Sherrod, the Agriculture Department official fired as a result of a misleading fragment of videotape.

What's not sticking to Obama is a legislative track record that his recent predecessors might envy. Political dividends from passage of a healthcare overhaul or a financial regulatory bill have been fleeting.

Instead, voters are measuring his presidency by a more immediate yardstick: Is he creating enough jobs? So far the verdict is no, and that has taken a toll on Obama's approval ratings. Only 46% approve of Obama's job performance, compared with 47% who disapprove, according to Gallup's daily tracking poll.

Clinching the Democratic nomination two years ago, Obama described the moment as an epic breakthrough when "we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless" and "when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal."

The Media IS his base voter, this is of course absurd as Obamoa has stumbled around like a demented child for his first two years, and probably made poppey in his pants and was applauded for doing so...

The socialist thug, his administration, his socialist party, and his socialist media spend all their time blaming President Bush for all the ills under the sun even when he has not been President for over 18 months. However, the majority of voters are not buying the lies of Obama and his socialists anymore and they have seen the real Obama, a socialist incompetent classless thug from Chicago.

They keep whining that Reagan was insulated, but he wasn’t. The Press was all over him and he lost plenty of seats in the mid term elections.Plus, the economy started to turn around quicker... Poor Obambi !

He's "ensnared in blame" because a good portion of the nation understands that his policies have hurt the economy and made business owners wary of investing further in their businesses, and also because most can recognize the strong "blame America first" aspects of his so-called foreign policy.

You nailed it. I love the part where they say Reagan avoided blame for recession for 2 terms. They were absolute boom times for the last 6 years of Reagan’s presidency and the first 2 years people were hopeful because we liked Reagan and what he was doing.

With all the golf and vacations this marxist closet bisexual takes, he should really be called the First Resident, not Mr Pres-id-ent. It’s like he thinks he’s on the West Wing playing president. Can’t wait to get out of makeup and wardrobe and play some crappy golf or spend a million bucks an hour flying air force one to the next vacation spot.

Teflon-Velcro, that is just more media nonsense. One President clearly came into office with great ideas and was clearly implementing them and communicating that to the American people, not to mention that he was replacing a truly disastrous President.

Obama replaced a President with a manageable economic problem, and then proceeded to grind the nation down into an economic disaster where recovery is questionable now, he clearly doesn’t have any control or plan, and he doesn’t communicate and address the serious economic fears of the American people, he seems detached, indifferent, and over his head. Throw in his political and racial war language and methods and the middle class Americans are naturally starting to look for another route out of this mess.

This isn’t Teflon-Velcro, it is a matter of leadership and it’s lack, the earning of credibility and it’s lack, competency and it’s lack.

To be a little touchy feely, it is even about caring, even in a political survival sense, Obama seems indifferent to daily life in America.

It’s not easy being the lone Superpower in the world. No, I’m not referring to the US, but rather, the One.

Can’t he just eat his waffles in peace?

Oh! We finally find something we can agree upon! It's stupid voters' fault!

This sounds like we're expected to praise BO no matter how much he ****s up the country, and it's UNFAIR of us if we don't!
