One of the biggest targets should the GOP regain control of either the U.S. House or Senate in November's elections, according to many polls, will be Obamacare, the president's plan that effectively nationalized the decision-making process for health-care issues.
But a little-reported move to begin demolition of the health-care system takeover already is pending in the House and has gained about three-quarters of the support it needs to repeal the law that demands citizens buy insurance or pay financial penalties.
As of last night, the discharge petition sponsored by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, had collected 162 signatures of the 218 it would need to advance even in the face of continued opposition from Obamacare promoter House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Under the provisions of the discharge procedures in the House, such a move is required to have the support of 218 members, a majority, of the 435-member chamber before moving forward.
But since it requires a majority, it is virtually assured of approval once it reaches the point of being advanced.

you dont need half, you need 2/3 to overcome a certain Obama veto.If the House and Senate repeal in 2011, then Obama should be notified that elections have consequences.
OBAMACARE must be rescinded!!
Yeah, then they’ll need to do another one of these for that...
Steve King sure has been a dynamo in standing against BO and his minions in Congress.
We need a few more in there just like him!
If the GOP retakes the House, they need to put repeal of 0bamacare into the 2012 Budget Act. After all, wasn’t it “budget reconciliation” that begat this monster?
So, put it in the budget, and if the Dems don’t like it, they get no budget.
Ahhh...if only the GOP had the balls....
This is all well and good but in the end the people will have the final say as to how they are governed. Obamacare is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 does not specifically list regulating health care as an enumerated power. The people are not bound by an unconstitutional act.
“The people are not bound by an unconstitutional act.”
Well, unfortunately that’s up to the courts to decide. And judges can really mess up sometimes- as we all learned yesterday in Arizona.
Rep Steve King is MINE are none of you can have him!
Yes!
218+
is what we need!
Yes!
218+
is what we need!
they better do something...my mothers hospice service acts like the patients are the enemy
“Rep Steve King is MINE are none of you can have him!”
But, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. :-)
Yes but only need 218 to defund. he he he
The tyrants, oligarchs and ruling class have a say on how the people want will be governed. If you were trying to De tocqueville-esque you stumbled badly into cliche land. The people having the power is a fleeting thing and we lost that oh about the time of Teddy Roosevelt. Depend on you own wits and resources and Jesus, depending on the wisdom of your fellow citizen and them having your zeal for an adherence to the constitution is folly.
I would expect it to get to 178 Republicans and then you need 40 Democrats. That’s a lot of potential campaign ads against Dems who refuse to sign on.
Don't tell WND that, they hate it when facts ruin their articles.
