Youth camp director James Lankfords first-place finish in Tuesdays Oklahoma 5th District primary has Washington Republicans, many of whom backed former state Rep. Kevin Calvey, scratching their heads.
A slate of prominent conservative groupsincluding the Club for Growth, Concerned Women for America, the American Conservative Union, and the Gun Owners of Americaendorsed and provided financial backing for Calvey in his bid for the Oklahoma City-area open seat, only to wake up Wednesday to find that the former state legislator finished behind Lankford, a little-known political newcomer waging his first campaign for office.
I think the question is, Who is James Lankford? remarked one Washington-based GOP operative who is supporting Calvey. I didnt know Lankfords name until four weeks ago.
This is heartening, seeing a little known but obviously very conservative contender buck the endorsements of Washington game-players, who would sell their principles for a mess of pottage.
Thanks for the insight. I lived in OK a long time ago, and now love sharing their politics with a co-worker who has family living in the state.
She loves their strong stance on immigration.
Well, this makes me a bit sad. We had a nephew, Michael Thompson, running for this seat..............and he is very conservative also.
Oklahoma is the reddest of the red states, I think, and probably most, if not all of their candidates these days are conservative.
He may go to Washington looking like this:
But he'll leave looking like this:
Apologies for multiple posts. My computer has a mind of it’s own this morning.
Baptist, Catholic, Christian doesn’t mean what it used to...
Great news. The establishment GOP had better wake up and come to grips with the reality that we do not want any more bosom buddy camaradarie witht their “esteemed colleagues” who seem hell bent on turning this nation into a socialist dung-heap. We want men and women of principal who are willing to stand up for the Constitution and our nation as a Judeo-Christian land of freedom.
We will tolerate no more those who “go along to get along”. Why do you think the media and the libs are attacking us as racists and terrorists. They fear our righteous anger and they are desparate to prevent the electoral tsunami heading their way.
Refreshing to say the least....
Yes. This is the way the nation is supposed to work. Citizen legislators go to Congress, do the public's work for a brief time, and return home to their careers. We are unfortunately very far removed from that ideal.
Getting out your votes is the key to winning a run off...and too often the person who came in first gets beat because they are over-confident. I don’t think this will happen with a 34-33% advantage but the real work is just beginning!
Huckabee support = bad.
Well...I'd like you tell that's true..but it's not. We have plenty of RINO's, and raging liberalmarxistsocialistdims here too.
B.S.
Oh yeah! Well, you need to wake up and smell the steaming pile of dung that is Washington, DC, mister.
It doesn't matter who is elected anymore.
We The People need to quit being so damned naive about a Repub victory in November cuz even if the Repubs take back both houses of congress it doesn't mean that We The People will be getting back our country.
As a matter of fact, IMO, it doesn't mean diddly squat. Why? Because it's too late to work within a system that is controlled by a ruling class of POS Ivy League elites.
What I said B.S. too...was for the guy becoming Gramnesty. That guy may as well be a Dim...No way..if this newb wins...he becomes twinkle-toes Gramnesty.
We hardly hear about the guy's that are actually pretty decent people..and have so far stayed that way. Because the treasonous MSM keep trotting out McCain, Gramnesty, Snow, etc....because that HELPS their cause.
Anyway...I've smelled the coffee long time ago, FRiend. Thanks!
The more than Dems AND Republicans in DC that fear their “unfathomable” ouster, the better.
I wasn't suggesting that this noob would start smoking the sausage if he went to DC.
If you understand the bigger point then you'll agree that chances are high that he'll get caught up in the DC game and become another one of the elites.
It's too late to work within the system, pal. Period. The deck is stacked.
I don't totally agree with it though.....
One guy that has pissed off the good ol' boy GOP..is Tom Coburn. I don't think he's changed much....There are others....
Granted it's disheartening....
What's your answer?
