Newsmaker Shirley Sherrod is set to appear before thousands of journalists on Thursday, July 29 at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Annual Convention in San Diego, Calif.
Sherrod has made headlines over the past two weeks for her forced resignation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart posted video excerpts of Sherrod's address at a March 2010 NAACP event on his website. The NAACP initially condemned her remarks and U.S. government officials called on her to resign. Upon review of the unedited video in context, the NAACP, White House officials, and Tom Vilsack, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, apologized soon after and Sherrod was offered a new position. Sherrod has not yet decided if she will accept the job offer.
Sherrod will have a candid conversation with a panel of journalists during a newsmaker plenary, "Context and Consequences: A Conversation with Shirley Sherrod." The discussion will focus on the reporting and coverage of this incident and the role that race still plays in a runaway media culture.
NABJ also extended Breitbart an invitation to this session. He initially accepted, but later declined.
For a “saint” she sure attends alot of segregated meetings.
NABJ? Slick Willie will probably show up too.

Great. Addressing another racist group.
If there was a National Association of White Journalists, if there were a White Congressional Caucus, if there was a National Organization for the Advancement of White People... etc.
Would they be denounced as racist groups?
Someone said recently this Sherrod woman’s 15 minutes were up. I so disagree. Let her loose. Any day now, she’ll make a ‘craker comment’ and Obama will have to fire her. Again.
I’m lovin’ it.
Despite the fact that she will speak in front of “thousands of journalists”, it’s still a good idea to videotape her speech, since I doubt the contents would be accurately reported by the MSM.
Ching-ching.
I knew she would not want her federal job back.
She probably getting $15,000 per speech. Two gigs like this per month and her federal salary is doubled.
Throw in a book deal and she’s “movin on up”!!
Victimhood. The only real narrative for the Left.
I’m wondering if cameras are going to be allowed in this one...just sayin’
No doubt the racist flotsam will rise to the top.. .aided and abetted by an aggrieved/sarc Left. . .
A white makes a racist comment and their out on their can, a black does it and they get speaking engagements.
Anyone seen Michael Richards lately, except in Seinfeld reruns? Nope. But heeeeeeeeere’s Shirley!
If there was ever any chance of anyone getting lynched at this event, it would be Breitbart. Yes, that may be a little bit of an exaggeration but I think there would be a near-riot.
That's where we are in this country, where communists instigate extreme racial tension to maintain and increase their power.
And why is it NOT racist to be a member of this association?
Personally I believe people should be allowed to create and become members of any group they wish, but then if they join one by it's very title shows it favors one race over another, should not then be allowed to call others "racist".
Let her and her Black Panther husband keep on talking. It may lead to an investigation of the US Agriculture Department and their billion-dollar handouts to no-show farmers.
Considering Shirley Sherrod is going around telling people Breitbart wants black people enslaved again, it’s a good thing he thought better of the appearance.
Think Brietbart will be allowed to cover that one?
Just as I thought, she is rising rapidly due to her fame as a “victim” of racism.
