Time and time again, the police and their lawyers have said, in courts of law, that the police are not there for anyone's public safety.
They're there to uphold the law --period.
Police talking about public safety is the same as teachers saying they need more money 'for the children'.
IOW, it's a canard.

Public employee unions have price themselves out of the market. Going forward expect to see alot of cities firing almost everybody and out sourcing the work (sheriff will pick up the policing). Also expect a lot of cities to go bankrupt and stop paying the retirement benefits of old city workers.
