The Talk Shows
Sunday, July 25th, 2010
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga; Howard Dean, former national Democratic Party chairman; the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Abigail Thernstrom, vice chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights; Michael Eric Dyson, sociology professor at Georgetown University; Cornel West, a professor of African-American studies and religion at Princeton University.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Geithner, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Berkeley Law School Dean Christopher Edley; author John McWhorter; Mort Zuckerman, publisher of the New York Daily News; former CIA director Michael Hayden.
“I don’t agree with very much that Newt Gingrich wants to do, but the biggest difference is Newt has a ton of ideas to move the country forward — he did when he was speaker. There are no ideas in the Republican Party right now in the Congress. They’re the party of no,” said Dean, a former presidential candidate himself. “They desperately need some intellectual leadership. Whatever you think of Newt Gingrich, he can supply intellectual leadership, so I hope he does run.”
The veiled compliment drew a smile from Gingrich, who noted that the line would probably be used against him by his opponents. “I’m not sure I can survive in the primary,” he quipped.
“What reasoning they do have seems to be wrapped around their “feelings” vs. “thinking” of the consequences.”
How right you are! It’s much easier to feel than it is to think.
WOW, I think Bob Scheiffer tried to have his own race summit on Face the Nation, today.....BIG FAIL.
Cornell West - using phrases like, “We can’t deodorize the dialogue”, “We need to let the funk come to the surface.” Blacks have been “terrorized”, “intimidated”. That guy is a loon.
Now Scheiffer is patting himself on the back for being part of the “old media” vs. the “new media” because the “old media” doesn’t post/air stories unless they have checked their facts (hello, Dan Rather?).
I’ll just run for President in 2012. I don’t know any of the retreads and I’ll be a fresh face.
Is my memory wrong? I thought ED Hill left FNC because she could not get the money and expanded time that she wanted. I don’t remember anyone saying she was fired.
I listen to WABC all the time. Need to check it out.
If you really want the inside on ED...I, of course, have it.
The other members of Fox and Friends despised her. Especially the guy with the son, forget his name right now. He does stick his son in front of our face, don’t he?
Now it ain’t rocket science. I watch Fox and Friends all the time, not that I’m necessarily proud of that. Over time you could see the animosity plain as day. Once the guy with the son had a hissy fit right on the air. “It isn’t all about YOU ED,” he shouted.
Heard it with my own lying ears.
I liked her. Well I liked her pretty much as much as I liked any which isn’t really all that much.
Just sayin’.
I’d vote for you Caribou.
“Liberals start with the incorrect assumptions and therefore reach improper conclusions. Happens every time... “
That’s exactly how it goes. It sounds good to them, therefore it must be fact.
“Ill just run for President in 2012. I dont know any of the retreads and Ill be a fresh face.”
Sounds good! Would you like me to manage your campaign? I’m a fresh face too.
For the first time ever I’m tivoing FTN just to hear Christie after church. Glad to hear he’s still good. Love every pound of him.
Girlene, Scheiffer must have listened to Rush! Rush has really been pouring it on him about not knowing this, and pouring on what Bob considers the media because they’ve kept it totally quiet.
Must have been the plan of the Journolist folks.
Howard Dean was the victim of Kennedy rolling into Iowa and kicking Gephardt out of the race. He then gave Kerry all Gephardt’s votes.
That put the end to Dean. Too bad he didn’t have the courage to fight. Instead they let him be head of the DNC.
The tape wasn’t edited. It was EXCERPTED.
Only a few honorable media types are using the correct term.
Remember that he also managed to buy his Larchmont, NY house in a bidding war around the real estate market peak.
"The Geithners paid a premium for the house when they bought it in 2004, plunking down $1.601 million after a bidding war. "
But to answer your question -- NBC is interested because he may be an economic ignoramus, but he is well spoken, can tie a half-Windsor knot and has impeccable academic credentials.
When they said DNC he though he was going to get to play doctor again...
“Just listened to the Chris Christie interview on this week..This damn guy is good...better than good, he’s great!!”
Totally agree! He’s very quick, very direct, and seems to be very principled. How refreshing!
Dunn is beyond dumb. Painful to listen to her blather.
As for Santelli, he’s the bright shining light of logic on the program.
David Gregory just says........we’re not Greece, we can print money.
God help us he was serious.
*
Before he got really into the campaign he was rightfully calling the Iowa caucus the most corrupt in the nation.
They sure showed him!!!
Timmy tried to sell his house to no avail so he’s renting it out.
