Saiqa Akhter, 30, has been charged with a single count of capital murder in the deaths of her 2-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son, police said. Dallas County Police spokeswoman Jamille Bradfield said the single count covered a child under 5 and would probably be changed either to include multiple victims or to add a count.

She’ll be exonerated under the ever-creeping Sharia laws in this country.....
Postpartum abortion.
see post #1...case closed. freakin’ muslims is all it is.
Yes, it sounds like an “honor killing.” As the mother of an autistic son, I can sometimes understand how parents can be pushed to the edge by the frustration and the inability to get help, especially as they age, if they get even more destructive and violent. “Of Mice and Men,” comes to mind at times. I wouldn’t do it, but I can understand this. This woman, though, killed her children, because they weren’t normal. Sharia Law, indeed.
I say do the same to her.
Wow, so I'm not the only mother of an autistic son who thinks of such things? Wow. You're the first person I remember encountering who understands this.
The frustration factor was my first thought, too. I can even understand her comment about feeling nothing (being in shock at what a terrible thing she just did) and wanting normal children -- if her culture/family doesn't accept and support special children it's especially difficult.
It was a local story and they've been running the 911 call. The mother sounded mentally unstable and kept explaining to the dispatcher how she wanted normal kids...hers were autistic, and she didn't want them anymore....so she killed them. Clearly the woman was acting psychotic.
Don't really see a muslim connection.
I have seen the local news stories for a week. It’s less about her being Muslim and more about her killing her children because of their autism. I do so hope she gets the death penalty, but if prior cases are any indication of Texas justice, she’ll be found mentally incompetent to stand trial, remanded to a state mental hospital, then be out in time to celebrate the big 4-0 with family and friends on the outside.(She is currently 30.)
If Andrea Yates and the other Texas women that have brutally killed their kids over the last decade or so didn’t get the death penalty, I doubt she will either.
I live in fear of what my son is capable of- he has hurt his sisters, tried to hurt me, and threatened our whole family. I have told health professionals this, and they pretty much just shrug and tell me there is nothing that can be done. I am afraid that he will do something that will become a criminal matter someday.
I hear you, cat, and I know how you feel. It’s terrible as a mother to have to contemplate these things.
