Spokesman says increased use of unmanned aircraft has forced change in operations, but drummed up new recruits

The Taliban have admitted that US drone attacks have disrupted their operations in Afghanistan but insist it will be only for the short term. Under Barack Obama, the US has stepped up the use of unmanned aircraft to target Taliban leaders and foreign fighters sheltering in neighbouring Pakistan, particularly in the border region of North Waziristan and South Waziristan. "In the short term, yes, you can say it has caused us some difficulties because of the martyrdoms and realignment of our ranks,"

They are cheaper, they are more stealthy, and they can fly for many more hours on station.

And when they get shot down or crash, the operator goes and has a beer.

Smaller. Less noise. More time over target. No pilot loss if one goes down. Cheaper than manned AC. etc etal.

The Taliban is finally right, the drone attacks are hindering their terrorist attacks - permanently for 900 plus wannabe killers who deserved to die.

Don’t know about you all, but if the Taliban leadership is willingly to say that he is having difficulties, that probably means the insurgents are having some real feverish prayer sessions with Allah, asking for divine intercession from the accursed Predators and the aptly named Hellfires.

All to no avail.

Either that or they are borrowing heavily from Sun Tzu.

“All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.”

The Guardian claims that the drone attacks have “drummed up new recruits”. The Taliban must be getting hurt.
