It appears tonight that several neighborhoods in Nuevo Laredo are once again sounding like war zones. We've received lots of phone calls tonight from viewers saying they hear gunshots and explosions across the border.
Laredo Police say the battle appears to be near Parque Viveros. That's the area near the sports complex where a grenede went off on Monday.
We sent our Annette Garcia high atop the Rio Grande Plaza Hotel to see what she could see and hear from that vantage point.
155 MM Howitzer for rtn fire.
When I lived in Austin in the 90’s, we’d go to Nuevo Laredo every now and again and have a great time! Really sad what’s going on now. Actually, it’s very angering that it’s been allowed to get to this.
Just doing the dirty jobs that Americans won’t do.
Seal off the Border, and send them lots of Ammo. The entire country of Mexico is not worth a dam, why else would so many try so hard to get to the U. S. In 20 years the Illegals will have out produced us in babies, and they will be in the majority. Good By Good Old U. S. and we stand by and help them...So sad.
I prefer 2000 lb JDAMs or Paveway Laser Guided Bombs. IIRC we are phasing the later out, so why not use them. The bombs themselves are cheap compared to the guidance kits, either Paveway or JDAM.
Same here, when I lived in San Antonio in the mid-1980s. Went there every Thanksgiving weekend to buy up stuff for Christmas. Anyone remember the Cadillac Bar?
Anyone notice Michelle 0bama hasn’t returned to Mexico since telling us all that it’s such a safe place to travel?
The Mexican people and government have done about as much damage to Mexico as possible, and now they want to bring their magic here, at the behest of our thugocracy.
I had not thought of the cadillac bar in years. Used to drive down there from Austin and get cheap booze. I had a buddy who’s mother was from Nuevo Laredo. He still had lots of relatives down there back then. I talked to him a few weeks ago and they have all had to flee south since the kidnap gangs are now targeting middle class people as well.

Wait a couple of weeks and she can simply stand on the street and watch the action.
How about the Blue Diamond, Papa Gayo’s and the Miramar? That’s when Boy’s town was all over town...not in a compound.
...and those awesome Fred’s sandwichs to soak up the booze...
I lived in El Paso in the 80’s and went to Jaurez all the time to goof off. Good times then staggering back across the bridge...
Whoever reports on that side will be killed. Pretty soon, the same end result will occur for those living on the U.S. side. Unless the governments do something about the fighting, everyone else better stay out of it in every way (including talking and/or reporting).
Spent some time in the old Cadillac Bar, eating and drinking cervesas.
Los dos Laredos ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
Cadillac Bar! Wunnerful.
You guys are killing me. Fred’s sandwiches. I still make them. Kentucky Club. La Florida. Maxfim’s. Martino’s. Shangri-la. The tacos al pastor place around the corner from Kentucky Club.
I went to Matamoros allot in the 90s on bidness. I usually stayed right by the border crossing, and for dinner I would walk a few blocks into Mex for a steak at Garcia’s.
It was always dark when I walked home. Even back then I did the “Crazy Ivan” constantly to make sure nobody was sneaking up behind me.
Today, there’s no way that I would go. Not during the day either.
