Reid’s courting of Crist creates awkward situation for Dems

Is Harry Reid trying to woo Charlie Crist into caucusing with the Democrats?

According to the Wall Street Journal’s Peter Wallsten, the Florida governor has had more than one conversation recently with the Senate Majority Leader about what he might do if he wins his campaign for the state’s open Senate seat. Crist, who quit the GOP to run as an Independent in April, hasn’t said which party he’ll caucus with if he wins.

Asked this morning for clarification on the substance of the Reid/Crist talks, Jim Manley, a spokesman for the Senate Majority Leader, gave the Upshot a "no comment."

I am still waiting for the 3AM call from Obama to Meek telling him to step out of the Florida Senate Election.

Heaven help Florida if Crist wins the election. He’s a real dud.

If he sides with the democRATs before the election, then he will lose. His “moderate independence” is the only thing he has going for him at this point.

Rubio’s campaign is rudderless. IMO.

He lost support on his immigration stance. And then he recently dissed the tea party caucus.

A big LOL from down here in Florida. Who exactly is going to vote for Crist because as I see it the Dems will vote Dem and the Republicans will vote Republican? I may be off base. Lieberman won in Connecticut, but he actually had people in his state that thought he was doing a good job and represented their values. I don’t even know what values Crist represents anymore. And Lieberman went independent AFTER he lost the primary, he didn’t just chicken out before the primary . . .

” He’s a real dud.”

No. He is left-wing scum. A sleeper agent if you will who has been lying to voters about his position. Play moderate. Vote left. It works for dems and republicans.

Then the Rubio camp needs to publicize these "secret" negotiations going on between Crist and Reid NOW!!! How's this for a TV Ad:
"Charlie Crist is so sure that Floridians are going to elect him to the U.S. Senate on November 2, he is already negotiating privately with Harry Reid regarding caucusing."

Time for him to regroup and rethink those items. To let Charlie rise to the Senate on the votes of DEms is a bad joke.

Reid is such a two faced SOB. He speaks like he’s a nice little old grandfatherly type. What a friggin’ loser. He’s a total power hungry POS. I hope Nevada has the smarts to throw the bum out of office.

Yep. The Rubio campaign needs to connect Crist to the democRATs. That shouldn't be hard, honestly. If Crist loses moderate Republicans, it's over.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

By the same token, Reid has probably missed the part about Crist that he is unpopular with Floridians so it doesn't matter who he "caucuses" with, he won't get elected.

The modern American politician: no principles, no morals, and no regard for the electorate. All they have is a lust for personal power and an accredited membership to the Big Government Party. Bring on the Tea Party!

I agree completely, he needs to blanket the airwaves with ads challenging Crist to declare which party he is going to caucus with. Not that I would trust him not to lie but I think he’s too much of a slippery coward to declare one way or the other. This will keep it alive and neither side will be able to trust him. Not that they should now.

Hopefully here in a few months, Reid and Crist will have lots of time to play “I've got your nose” with each other.

Yesterday a reporter here in FL asked Charkie Crist who he will caucus with if he wins. He stated on camera that he “will caucus with the people of Florida”. If I hear him say one more time “the people of Flordia” anything, I am going to jump into the Gulf of Mexico and drown myself. What a pinhead.
