If they get in your face, punch them as hard as you possibly can in either the nose or throat.

Both are good spots to aim for. The throat is more effective but the nose is an easier target.
once you’ve crossed the line and start to fear for your life or the life of your children, the rules change.

bopping someone in the nose is nice, but even if you break it, it won’t stop them from coming at you.
as for the neck, grab for the esophagus, squeeze, and move to either side. best performed from behind.
if you have your back to a wall or other hard surface, use their forward momentum to your advantage. grab them, pull towards yourself, adding your weight to their momentum, twist, and angle their head towards the hard surface. done properly, the assailant will no longer be a threat. get back on your feet and be ready for the next one.
