I agree with you about the race card issue.
But Cain could be the right man for the job. He is a constitutionalist. That he also just so happens to be black doesn't have to be the primary issue. And when the media pr reps start making it about race, we will be ready.
We need to STOP playing the tit for tat SKIN COLOR game.
It’s NOT working.
Recall Powell. Colin Powel was pushe dup the ladder SOLEY because of his SKIN COLOR. Look how that turned out. We must STOP this. We MUST put someone up based on MERIT and ABILITY.
I don’t know this man Cain, but IF he is QUALIFIED and CAN DO THE JOB, then consider him but I fear there is a BACK LASH going on. I fear that because he is BLACK, voters will NOT TRUST HIM. I fear that because he is BLACK people won’t vote for him BECAUSE of his SKIN COLOR. Obama has set RACE RELATIONS back 100 years due to HIS RACISt GAMES.
I am with you on all counts.
As far as I am concerned, there are only two races.
Human.
NASCAR.
What we really need to see is the SRM as it currently exists relegated to irrelevence.
I’d vote for Herman Cain in heartbeat but we have way too many RINO’s in GOP leadership who are much more interested in ‘reaching across the aisle’ with the left then actually fighting them.
Real conservatives like Mr Cain frighten GOP leadership.
We are becoming a RACIST POLITICAL PARTY!
It's crazy.
The GOP is putting itself in a box by selecting by SKIN COLOR. The GOP is doing what the Demoncrats are doing - playing the RACE CARD by looking more closely at SKIN COLOR. It hasn't worked well with Steele either. Steele should be out on his arse! But no, we keep hearing that we need a BLACK MAN to avoid be “racist”. Geesh! How are we better than Demoncrats that constantly play the race card when it is convenient?
We need to have a candidate that is ABOVE this juvenile race crap. We need a candidate to STAND UP on MERIT and address this racist crap and that candidate doesn't have to be BLACK.
I want MERIT.
I want ABILITY.
I want BRAINS.
I want LEADERSHIP.
I want someone I can RESPECT.
I want someone I can TRUST.
I want someone that is PROVEN.
I want someone I IDENTIFY with when it comes to IDEOLOGY and putting this IDEOLOGY into PRACTICE.
I DO NOT care what COLOR they are.
I'd like to see a candidate that if totally covered up, and you were not able to SEE their SKIN COLOR, you'd love them for WHO they are INSIDE. It's the “content of their character and NOT the color of their skin” that has you embracing them.
I fear this potential candidate, Cain, is an opportunist that is USING HIS SKIN COLOR to get brownie points. I am uneasy with this.
Cain/Palin 2012! lol - sorry, I just had to say it :-)
“...and a black man of ‘substance’”
Not a qualifier, in my opinion, and more likely a detractor come 2012. We’ve gone the Affirmative Action route (No offense intended to black leaders who have earned the right to be our leaders, like Herman Cain), and it has been tremendously disappointing. That disappointment is going to have a backlash, especially against a black conservative who will automatically draw the ire of the Democratic Party’s reparation blacks. Our first black president needed to be a great man and president, and maybe Herman Cain would have been that, but we got Obamao, and mistakes like him have consequences.
About the 5th time I’ve seen this posted this morning
I hope God says "Don't do it".
What about Palin/Cain?
I refuse to vote for someone purely based on race. If they’d put a true conservative on the ballot, I’d vote for him regardless of his race.
Let's stop trying to dilute the conservtive choices with people because they are black or because it is Thursday. Our BEST hope remains Sarah and electing her in '12 (possibly with Jindal as VP) would be the most "in your face" move conservatives could make against the DBM AND the Dems because they both hate and fear her equally!!
I say that by the time we vote for President again, the last person most people will vote for will be a black man.
BO has brought race relations back to the 1960s
Put a White guy back in and get some competency back in office. Don't like my attitude .. deal with it.
From what I know of this man so far the answer is yes, he has what it takes. And just happens to be black. Just like Sarah Palin just happens to be female.
Well I deeply disagree, for one thing Obama election has shown people that voting for anyone just because of the color of their skin is ludicrous, the color of a mans skin doesnt determine if he is qualified to do any job.
I think and hope that Obamas election has accomplished one other thing that we are finally going to stop looking at the superficial aspects of candidates (Are they Christian, Catholic, Mormon, Jew, white, black, brown and yes even are the Republican, Democrat, Independent) and look and choose the person most qualified.
Hopefully some have with Obamas election realized just because you like someone for what ever reason (be it race, religion, personality) it doesnt mean they are able to do a job.
The fact that Herman Cain is black alone should not disqualify him and certainly the fails of Obama should not disqualify him just because they share skin color.
I am not so naive as to think that they will not be those who oppose him because he is black (especial those who now hold the opinion that Obama has proved that a Black cannot hold the office) and among those who would feel that Herman because of his conservative Christian views just isnt Black enough (those who would view him as a House Ni
), but both these views are racist in themselves and I will not waste my time with people of that caliber.
Am I promoting Herman Cain because he is Black? No that to would be in my opinion racist in itself. I am promoting him because of his record of promoting and speaking up for conservative values. Herman was endorsing, encouraging, and living these values long before any thought of running for the office of POTUS. He is clearly an outside the beltway candidate who has practical life experience outside of politics. These are among the chief reasons I support him.
Clearly POTUS candidates are like just about everything and one size doesnt fit all, but to say a person is not a qualified candidate because of they share skin color with a failed (even an EPIC Failed) politico is beneath the dignity of this forum and is against everything we should stand for.
Disagree with his policies, words, point out weaknesses in his background, education and/or experience, but not that his skin color.
As I have posted before this line from Saara’s ‘Killer Angels’ comes to mind: “No two things on this earth are equal or have an equal chance, not a leaf nor a tree. There's many a man worse than me, and some that are better, but I don't think race or country matters a damn. What matters is justice. ‘Tis why I'm here, I'll be treated as I deserve, not as my father deserved.”
Until such time as I find Herman Cain wanting in any of these areas I will treat him as he deserves.
