NOW VP To Sarah Palin and Conservative Women: Stop Being So Empowered, Darn It!
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | July 21, 2010 | Cassy Fiano

The femisogynists just cannot let Sarah Palin go. Ever since she came out of the closet as a feminist, their heads haven’t stopped exploding. When you add in the number of strong, successful, conservative female politicians who have emerged in the past year, it’s no wonder that the fascist feminists have been going through a major identity crisis. The Sarah Palin feminist story is actually pretty old news, but the feminist left just can’t stop bringing it up. The latest to join in on the cacophony of complaints is the executive vice president of the National Organization for Women (NOW), Bonnie Grabenhofer. The problem? All these gosh-darned conservative women, led by that dastardly Sarah Palin, just don’t realize that they’re victims and slaves to their reproductive rights. How dare a woman think she paved the road to her own success and be pro-life??

Grabenhofer starts with the trite and beaten-to-death meme that Sarah Palin is not a feminist.

NOW executive vice-president, Bonnie Grabenhofer, told The Daily Caller that to her, “feminism is a social justice movement aimed at getting social, political, and economic equality for women. We work for the advancement of women on multiple fronts.”

... According to Grabenhofer, Palin doesn’t qualify as a feminist.

“I do not consider Sarah Palin to be a feminist,” she said. “She has benefitted from the work of feminists but she has not worked to advance the rights of women. She works against the progressive ideas meant to help.”

What, exactly, disqualifies Sarah Palin from being considered a feminist?

So, basically conservative women are busy living their lives to the fullest and the feminist Left is busy whining about Sarah Palin. Sounds like a good deal to me! Keeps 'em out of my way and takes up the energy they could be using to lobby for the growth of Big Daddy Government.

There should be no “feminists” on the political right. It’s as stupid as me claiming to be a “masculinist”

She works against the progressive ideas meant to help.” is code for not willing to abort her own child.

It is part of their initiation for becoming a feminist, without killing your own child you don't qualify.

Oh she is a feminist alright! She just like the rest of us is not sloppy about who they sleep with and we take care of ourselves not treating ourselves like trash. On the left those women seem to throw themselves at men who couldn’t give a wit about them to validate themselves then through their sloppiness with not taking care of themselves they have to worship at the alter of abortion. Where on our side Conservative feminist don’t do that and mostly stay in committed relationships where if there is an accident with birth control we don’t chose to kill it we buckle down and live up to our respnsiblities because afterall it isn’t the baby’s fault it was concieved.

I am so done with the labeling. I see myself as frustrationist, a shortwomanist, a motherist, a grandmotherist, and lord knows if I start at the letter “A” in the dictionary I will then become an assist. That defininition of assist isn’t even listed yet.

Exactly - they absolutely cannot stand the competition. That’s why it’s so effective for Sarah Palin to use the term “feminist.” The people who control the language control the narrative. Palin destroys leftist ownership of the narrative when she uses the terms they think belong solely to them.

That is why they must smear and destroy her.

I find her and her family incredibly refreshing, warts and all. Are they perfect ? No, please raise you hand if you know a family that is.

Same thing among blacks who criticize conservative successful blacks, such as Colin Powell, Condi Rice, or Janice Rogers Brown, for not being black enough or for being too white.

“She works against the progressive ideas meant to help.” is code for not willing to abort her own child.”

That’s the first thing I thought of when reading that comment.

Also thought - there’s that word “progressive” again. That word seems to encompass a lot of liberal rot.

I also perceive that in order to be a feminist as defined by NOW...you have to hate men and that women are equal to men in all situations. Combine the hatred of men and abortion, I guess I would make a crappy member of NOW.

Conventional feminism enables oppression while claiming to oppose it.

Like all leftist causes, it produces the opposite of its professed agenda.

This. A thousand times, this:

“I do not consider Sarah Palin to be a feminist,” she said. “She has benefitted from the work of feminists but she has not worked to advance the rights of women. She works against the progressive ideas meant to help.”

In other words, feminists are supposed to be nothing more than progressives with ovaries. Even if you HAVE ovaries, you STILL can't be a feminist unless you stay on the progressive plantation.

Sarah had the audacity (yes, I went there) to WORK her way up, campaign, and be elected based on HER ideas, not because she was married to someone who held political office, or was a wealthy man. She is much more qualified for public office than even Hillary Clinton, who, though elected to the Senate, didn't have anywhere NEAR the actual elective office experience of Sarah Palin.

Hillary had political experience, because she helped her husband gain the offices for which he ran, then she because she was his wife, she was hired at a big lawfirm to be their 'rainmaker'. She continued to work to get her husband into the Presidency, then it was 'her turn'. She won her Senate seat was because it was New York, and she was the wife of the former President. So even though Hillary didn't have to work for her positions, she's still considered a feminist, because she is pro-abortion.
It always comes down to abortion, plain and simple.

“That word seems to encompass a lot of liberal rot.”

Progressive basically equals collectivist/socialist/Communist/Marxist. So it actually covers ALL the leftist rot;)

IMO, by refusing to have an abortion Sarah earned the hatred of elitist women, most of whom I would venture to say have their own abortionist on speed-dial...
