Congressional Black Caucus releases statement on Sherrod firing Posted: July 21st, 2010 10:42 AM ET

Washington (CNN) – The Congressional Black Caucus released the following statement today on the firing of USDA employee Shirley Sherrod“It is troubling that Shirley Sherrod was asked for her resignation as Georgia State Director for Rural Development at the U.S. Department of Agriculture because of an edited video clip. A full review of the clip demonstrates Ms. Sherrod’s personal transformation. She was clearly educating the public about the power of redemption. It is now apparent that Secretary Vilsack did not have all of the facts available to him and overreacted.

“The Congressional Black Caucus continues to believe that Ms. Sherrod was unfairly asked to resign, without due process and should be reinstated immediately. There are many individuals still serving in the Department of Agriculture who were responsible for years of discrimination against African American farmers.

“We also believe that a national dialogue on race must be held. Last November, we held a forum on race in Washington DC to begin the discussion. The basis for Ms. Sherrod’s resignation is another example of why we must not sweep race under the rug.

For a minute there I thought they were talking about IG Gerald Walpin:

We also believe that a national dialogue on race must be held.
Dialogue? First you clean up your inner city streets, stop the violence, pull up your pants, stay in school, stop the baby-mama machines, get married, get off welfare and raise your own damned kids.
Then we'll talk.
Oh, and before you say it ... no, we don't want you to behave like whitey, we want you to behave like Americans.

Hmmm, what could they possibly mean here? Dialogue infers a two way conversation. What they really mean is we need a national lecture.

Can we just start beating the hell out of anyone using the Race Card? White. Black. Brown. Purple.

Anyone throwing the Race Card earns a one way fast trip to the ER...

This crap has GOT to stop.

It really seems to me that a person or persons are trying very, very hard to spark some sort of a racial confrontation.

We have not been united, not even close.

"Congressional Black Caucus"-> NOW theres a racist sounding organization..
A group at odds with every other race in the U.S...
Maybe they didn't notice other races would NOTICE..
Other races would watch them pushing Affirmative Action..
and that women are no minority...

The truth is every race is COLORED people.... people colored some tint...
AND there are ONLY two genders...

Isn't it kind of strange that a woman who was suing the USDA and only days after the announcement of the 13 MILLION dollar settlement to her foundation, she is hired to her current position?

Redemption from what? From previous acts of bigotry?

Get under the bus Sherrod.

" He should have gotten help from his own kind." I didn't do all I could have done, just enough to say I did something.

These rascist are rascists, whether they are redeeming themselves or not.

We need to start applying the same criteria to blacks in regards to racism as they apply to whites.

ie. They can only be considered “reformed” and “changed” if they join the Republican party, otherwise they are all guilty till proven otherwise. Meanwhile a black republican can do or say anything he wishes about white crackers and they will automatically get a pass, because everyone “knows” that a black republican can't be a racist!

I saw another posting where Ben Jealous was at the March 27th speech. The NAACP is digging their hole even deeper.

Such is the perils of being an Obama follower.

Namely, Obama orders the NAACP to charge the Tea Party with racism.

NAACP leadership gets exposed for their own racism.

Sherrod gets terminated and Ben Jealous concurs.

Obama and NAACP need to rework their game plan.

Maybe they need to bring in the JournOlist group to help them out.

It is so much fun watching politicians implode!!!!

That after she smirked about the white farmer, she realized it was instead about the haves and have-nots, not black and white. Which means to me she’s in the “redistribution of wealth” camp most likely.

I tried to post the link to the full video, but for some reason it didn't work. If you go to Youtube and put in Shirley Shirrod you'll find it.

It is now apparent that Secretary Vilsack did not have all of the facts available to him and overreacted.

The group of race-baiters purposefully did not address the fact that the White House stepped in and pressured this woman to resign.
