Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said early Wednesday that his department will reconsider the ouster of an employee who resigned over alleged race comments.

His statement came after civil rights leaders said they were "snookered" into believing a conservative website's charges of racism against employee Shirley Sherrod were true.

Absolutely incredible. They will get to the point where they will say there was`nt anything at all racist about her comments. This country has turned into garbage in the last two years.

And of course if this was a whitey who said the same thing about blacks, supposedly in a similar context, there'd be no such reconsideration.

How the f can the NAACP claim to have been "snookered" when it was its own video being used?

President Barack Obama had been briefed on Sherrod's resignation after the fact and stood by the Agriculture Department's handling of it.

"Whoa, guys - if B.O. is supporting us, maybe we did the wrong thing!"

She blames the NAACP, the NAACP blames Fox News and Breitbart...

One thing for sure, in liberal land, it's always somebody else's fault.

Bigger question; why does the NAACP still exist? It has as much relevance as the National Association of Buggy Whip Makers.

Glenn Beck seems to agree with them.

Will she get to sue again and get another fat payment?

If what she is saying is true, that she was relating a story from 24 years ago and that her outlook has changed, then she was wrongly fired.

I just posted this on another thread, but it is applicable here.

On Fox's Special Report with Bret Baier last night, the bottom line was that Sherrod might have been unjustly maligned because her speech was taken out of context when the tape was truncated (but the NAACP was justifiably damned by their applause for racism and they know it).

I understand Breitbart has another Sherrod tape to release shortly which will clear him (Breitbart) of accusations that he "manipulated" the tape (truncated it) to make Sherrod look bad.

“Sherrod defended herself in a number of interviews Tuesday, saying her controversial comments were taken out of context. She had, she said, used a personal experience from nearly a quarter century ago in which she confronted her own racism and learned to move beyond it.

She insisted she “went all out” to help the man keep his farm”

Two problems here, she admits she was a racist and then she actually said on the video that she DID NOT go all out to help him and instead sent him to “one of his own kind”. Last I checked, 1986 was post civil rights year.

"I sent him to one of his own" is a contemporaneous statement and is blatently racist.

She’s a multi-millionaire now. Someone poor should have the job while she goes and rolls around in her money. There’s no good reason for her to have both her fat settlement and a generously-compensated government job. It needs to go to someone more “deserving.”

This whole thing is causing chaos and confusion and embarrassment in the enemy camp. As far as I am concerned, mission accomplished.

They’re sure making the NAACP and white house look like real chumps.

Sorry, but I have to play the "what if a straight whitey Christian male had said the same thing about ______ minority" card.

Regardless of any "context," we all know that had that been the case, the speaker would have been drawn and quartered and dragged out of town.

It sickens me that some people in this country can get away with being so overtly racist in their official job duties, even if it means purposefully hurting others, as she has proudly claimed to have done. She should be investigated and possibly prosecuted if she is found to have denied help to other whiteys, not reinstated.

But of course, this isn't how this regime works... you act against whitey, you get a medal.

"Will she get to sue again and get another fat payment?"

It really doesn't matter; in ALL cases that are race-based, the Taxpayer ALWAYS is paying the bill.....

Whether it's reparations, "hate crimes", welfare, Affirmative Action, shakedowns, etc., etc., the NAME OF THE GAME is "get Whitey".

Yep!

By always playing it as honestly as possible, Brett Baier and group (using the Hume method) make sure the truth comes out.

And in this case the NAACP is getting some really bad exposure for its support of racism!

Couldn't happen to a more deserving crowd.

You are correct of course, but this matter is developing into a more complex case.

See this video I just posted on FR...Breitbart to CNN’s King: It’s Not About Shirley Sherrod It’s About NAACP Attacking Tea Party (video)

well, only if Breitbart DOES indeed have another tape to release that shows Sharrod in a worse light, only then will he seem NOT to have put his foot in his mouth. I have never seen an ‘incident’ which seems to have snookered so many people on both sides of the aisle in so many ways.
Taking selected parts out of an old speech from 24 years ago that are supposed to point out the apparent racism of someone who is NOW a mid-level Dept. of Agriculture bureaucrat, conjuring up a story about how she was INSTANTLY fired , with orders coming from the White House, coming over her Blackberry , requesting her to pull off the road and tender her resignation. And all THAT supposedly being requested by Obama, because they suddenly have a Zero Tolerance for racism......oh, it’s just too good to be true.
But the story doesn’t end there......THEN comes the inevitable “let’s look at this closer..” moment when they realize the real context of her remarks and accept her claim that she actually HELPED the man keep his farm after all, and they’ve been friends for years, so that brings about a new round of “NO! She’s innocent! UNfire her!” coming from all quarters...including Beck and strange bedfellows on the Liberal side. And ALL THIS ‘coincidentally’ comes at the end of more than a week of the heaviest ‘racism’-tinged news stories, of the NBBP leader shreiking KILL THE CRACKER, KILL THE CRACKER’S BABIES, the dropping of prosecution of the jerks at the Philly Polling place) also presumably NBBP members, the NAACP resolution of Tea Party racism, the dissociation of other Black Players from that, the re-opening of the bogus claims from the Congressional Black Caucus that they got spit on, and called the “N” word, after intentionally taking a different path into the building so that they’d walk past the Tea Party protestors, ALL THIS happening
in barely a week, so that it monopolizes the news, and culminates in this story, which looks like such a blunder by Breitbart that he almost seems to be in on the overall
project. This is a highly orchestrated affair.

24 years ago, 24 years ago, 24 years ago. Thats all we`re hearing, now. Her racist comments are ok because she made them 24 years ago. The NAACP applauding her racist comments is ok because she made them 24 years ago.
