I don't blame the protesters for being angry, but how did city salaries get so high before anyone started protesting?

They can never get enough. It’s a great thing. They keep it up until it gets so ridiculous that it wakes people up.

They probably hid the salaries in a personnel section of the budget where they weren’t openly enumerated. It’s great that low income people are realizing they are getting screwed.

Uh, welcome to Mexico.

This is the norm there. That anyone is protesting at all means that maybe a little bit of America has invaded their brains.

This is Bell, a very poor LA suburb.

Evidently the little people are just too ignorant to appreciate why such a wise and benevolent public servant isn't worth $0.8 mil per year.

What’s funny is that the chief city executive is making more than the LA chief city executive.

He’s making more than any of the US Supreme Court justices or even the President.

This is what government does. This is who they are.

I blame the stoopid people who believe that someone is from the government, and they are here to help them.

It's stoopid voters who make this possible.

I guess it isn’t easy living in Bell. The Chief Exec is probably collecting combat pay.

Whole new meaning to the term Company Town.

T.E. Ford once wrote: 16 tons what do you get, 32 tons and deeper in debt. Add the words “of BS” after tons and that is what we get from the elected government these days.

Rev II coming soon.

The mayor said that the city is clean and has really nice parks. I’m sure this wouldn’t have been possible if he had only been paid $250,000 a year.

“Admiminstrative services department head” sounds like a glorified personnel manager. I doubt that such a person could get that kind of money for the same job in the private sector.

That said, I don’t really have a problem with the salaries of the professors of medicine. Those guys are highly skilled, work hard, and bring in grant money to the U of C. However, if I saw that the distinguished professor of, say, oppression studies or dead languages was making that kind of money to teach one class a semester and write books that no one will read, I’d be pi$$ed.
