NAACP's Image Issue

Racial Politics: After passing a resolution condemning Tea Party racism, the NAACP must confront its own tolerance of bigotry. The post-racial society we were promised seems to be drowning in a sea of hypocrisy.

The historic civil rights organization famous for its Image Awards seems to be having problems with its own. The latest chink in its armor is a speech by a black Agriculture Department official at an NAACP event that, if given by a white person at a Tea Party event, could rightfully be called racist. It will not get an Image Award.

If character is defined by what you do when no one is looking, or you think no one is looking, the NAACP had better look at the content of its own. The organization has consistently played the race card and fanned the flames of victimhood, seemingly not recognizing that racism is a human problem, not a political one, and that it comes in all colors.

The NAACP has rightly condemned the words of Shirley Sherrod, the USDA director for the state of Georgia, at the NAACP's March27 Freedom Fund Banquet. But it did so only after Andrew Breitbart of biggovernment.com brought forth a video of her boasting of denying a white farmer her best efforts because of his race.

NAACP President Ben Jealous has denounced the Tea Party for tolerating racists. But Sherrod was not an individual in a crowd of thousands carrying a politically incorrect sign. She was an invited speaker and her views could not have been unknown. We challenge the NAACP to find a similar video of an invited speaker at any Tea Party event that has said anything remotely similar.

“The historic ‘civil rights’ (for blacks only) organization famous for its Image Awards seems to be having problems with its own.”

Awesome.

Senator Byrd of West Virgina was never not ever even once asked to leave the DNC during his extended stay in Washington by the NAACP.

If Klan membership is of no concern to the NAACP who cares what they think?

The NAACP is Klan ideology wrapped around government money.

How many women have held leadership roles in the NAACP? None.

Not only is the NAACP a bigoted intolerant group of mindless scumbags but they also hate women.

Image issue??

The NAACP is and has been a RACIST outfit with a Marxist agenda for years before this little kerfuffle came about.

I fail to see where there is anything to be shocked or upset about.

Maybe it’s about time that some people in this country wake up and smell the coffee. We have been under a constant assault by the left ever since Comrade Rooseveldt began his reign.

What an astute observation. The Tea Party’s been accused of racism when absolutely nothing was said.

Whats a “Colored”?

It’s racist to call someone colored.

And it’s racists to represent the advancement of one race.
