PHOENIX -- Groups opposed to Arizona's tough new immigration law are planning some ``civil disobedience'' on July 29, the day the legislation takes effect.
The leaders of the groups say they'll hold a candlelight vigil at the state Capitol in downtown Phoenix, march to a nearby church at 4:30 a.m. for a nondenominational service and then march to the federal courthouse in Phoenix.
They declined to describe what the ``civil disobedience'' would be, but emphasized it will be nonviolent.
Alfredo Gutierrez, organizer with the group Somos America, characterized the protests as acts of defiance and hope for the Hispanic community.
The protests will be held, whether or not the law takes effect, the groups said. Seven suits challenging the law as unconstitutional and seeking to stop it are pending in U.S. District Court.
Besides Somos America, groups planning to participate are Puente, National Day Laborer Organizing Network, religious representatives and others.
Gutierrez said, "We call on people of conscience to join us on July 29, the day SB1070 is to go into effect, for a rally and civil disobedience at the office of the worst human rights violator of our time, Sheriff Arpaio. On July 29, we will not comply."

Not with a bang but with a whimper...
I guess “Si, se puede!” marked the high-water mark for that there particular confederacy.
When they stop off at the nearby church, I advise them to pick up some Bibles. Pay particular attention to the parts about “rendering to Caesar,” “being in submission to the authorities over you,” not coveting and not stealing.
Tase em’ bro!
July 29th? Happy fricken Birthday to me.
Little pepper spray and dogs should be in order if they become disorderly.
Ohhhh yeah,
Ya don’t like something!
Break the law and raise hell.
That’s the way to attract sensible folks to your poopie cause.
If their civil disobedience leads to a lawful encounter with law enforcement, and that encounter results in reasonable suspicion that they are in the country illegally, then it just means they are providing a target-rich environment to the LEO’s.

Newspeak for acts of domestic terrorism.
Oh goodie and since most will be out of control and liable to be arrested their legal status can be checked. Nothing like lining up for deportation!
Ping!
All those illegals in one spot will make it easy to round them up.
It’s not just in AZ... It looks like mecha is going to do this crap everywhere!

Should give Sheriff Joe’s Deputy’s fertile hunting grounds.
I am glad you posted this. I have known about the “planned protests” for a while. This is being promoted by www.answercoalition.org and a bunch of left wing lunatic groups.
I already read about one guy stating he was planning on getting arrested. (We in AZ are worried that they are planning to start riots.)
I say law enforcement should do nothing, they are counting on arrests, dont give them what they want. They cant protest forever, when the protests end, enforce the new law.
It's hot here in Phoenix, and it's gonna be hot the 29th...we'll see how "disobedient" they feel in temps of 110 degrees.
The problem is, then AZ taxpayers will be stuck with the bill for ER treatment for the estupido's heat strokes!
If they swarm your vehicle:
Down shift and hammer the gas pedal.
Plow through them.
