As of 10:00 p.m. EDT, hours after Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack fired Shirley Sherrod for racism in her official duties after being exposed by BigGovernment.com there is a near total blackout by the mainstream news media on the scandal.
Sherrod was appointed a year ago by Vilsack to be the Georgia director of Rural Development where she doled out millions of dollars in federal funds.
Just days before her appointment, the Obama Justice Department settled a lawsuit by Sherrod and her husband claiming discrimination against their farm cooperative for a reported $13 million.
A search of Google News and Google Blogs shows nothing form the Associated Press or Reuters. Nothing from Politico or The Hill. Nothing from The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times. Nothing from MSNBC or CNN. Nothing from ABC or NBC. CBS gets partial credit for running a story earlier about Sherrod's racist remarks but has failed to follow up with the story of her firing.
Credit goes to Fox News for reporting the story and updating it with news of Sherrod's termination:
The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.
"There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a written statement. "We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness and equality very seriously."
Sherrod was videotaped at an NAACP dinner in March of this year speaking about an incident where she discriminated against a white farmer while acting in her offical capacity because she is black and is prejudiced against white farmers.
Big Government broke the story with video to back it up around mid-day. The failure of the mainstream media to touch this story even after Sherrod was forced to resign and was publicly rebuked by an Obama cabinet secretary is a shameful example of the censorious nature of the liberal mainstream media.
THIS is the key to 2010 and 2012. THIS is a potential application of Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" rule:
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.'..."Look at Sherrod. SHE is the kind of person who will decide what level of medical help you will get. SHE is the kind of person who will decide if you live or die. SHE is the face of the federal bureaucracy.""...any target can always say, 'Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?' When your 'freeze the target,' you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the 'others' come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...'
"One acts decisively only in the conviction that all the angels are on one side and all the devils on the other." (pps.127-134)
This one is also key and this situation is a perfect example of turning rule 4 on the lib’s
4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”
playing the race card like Charlie Daniels plays fiddle. . . professionally
Wait, so was it March of this year she let loose with the racist tirade? Because Yahoo news today put out the headline that it was 20 some odd years ago she made the statement. If Yahoo’s editorial staff lied, that would make them verminous. As if they already weren’t verminous. It’s inexcusable that Yahoo gets to broadcast it’s message of socialist extremism broadcasting from Berkeley, only because it’s a gateway to yahoo mail. Yahoo is such a miserable leftist news outlet. A day doesn’t go by they aren’t broadcasting pure left wing propaganda.
If they mislead the public insinuating Sherrod was canned for a 20 year old comment, they deserve the wrath of the conservative community.
