Bell, CA is a 'suburb' of LA with a population of about 37,000 people. Their city manager makes almost $800,000 per year.
Compare that to the City of Dallas, which has about 1,300,000 people inside its borders. The city manager here, who many feel is overpaid, makes about $278,000.
Something is wrong here, and it's not in Dallas.
With moves like this, how is California NOT doomed?

Speaking of commentary, you want to explain this?

Unless you can show fraud or bribery step back. Here’s the way it works. The voters elect the city council. The city council sets the salaries. The voters can re-elect or not. Rinse and repeat.

The next Civil War will be between the producers of our society and these parasites who feel they can steal from the taxpayers under color of Law.
In a rational world this 'manager' and the entire City Council that approved this arrangement would be swinging by their heels in the Town Square.

Bell is a rather rough area. I’m surprised these two guys get that little. You’d have to pay me a $1000000 to show up by 9 and leave by 3, and I’d never be in the vicinity at night.

Oh, I am not saying they’re breaking the law.
I *am* saying that this is obscene - and that dragnet2 needs to remove the beam from his own eye before complaining bitterly about the mote in Texans’.
With stupidity like that, there is no chance of California ever recovering.

It is beyond outrageous. But the people who are at fault are those who approved the city manager's salary. They are at fault. They caused this problem. It's they the voters should take their rage out on. This happens over and over in California when we have a budget catastrophe. We are laying off police, fire, teachers and other essentials and we have a clown pulling down $800K? Madness!

As I recall (on a visit to the BMC at Bell) there's a couple of major roads there that appear to be major outlets for chop shop automobile parts.
There are also liquor stores around.

These people should be arrested, hauled into the city square, and summarily SHOT!
What an outrage!
Mexican corruption has moved north to Kalifornia!

‘Public service’ has become a phrase for ‘legalized theft’...pension included.
All courtesy of the f#7*s that pay the taxes.

There is nome funky story about this town and these “administrators.” Someone here used to post about it, but I can’t remember the details.

If thats a number people choke on, maybe Im in the wrong business, Rizzo said. I could go into private business and make that money.Arrogant little MF to boot.
Looks like the Mobs got nothing on the crooks running Bell, CA.
Rizzo should understand that ripping off the tax paying public is a dangerous game, he had better be clean as a whistle because he and his "Associates" are now targets of investigation.
