Computer glitch costs Georgia taxpayers

At the height of America’s worst postwar recession, in September 2008, a computer glitch caused the Georgia Department of Labor to issue 46,373 duplicate unemployment check deposits, a financial error that initially cost more than $12 million.

Almost two years later, the state has yet to recoup all the money, according to a report from the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts. The Labor Department says it is still trying to recover $115,000.

The poor computer is being framed...

Although it is not funny to see the continued government bungling, I find it funny the way the author starts this article - At the height of America’s worst postwar recession, in September 2008... - as if it hasn't gotten worse since then. Besides recession or no recession, the 'computer glitch' has no correlation.

A real investigation would show that the computer glitch has a name, receives a government paycheck and has since been promoted.

Since it looks like they were able to get most of the double payments back, I don't think many went to union thugs.
