"What is it with the Obamas and ice cream cones anyway?" As image conscious and stage-managed as these people are, I seriously think it's a contrivance to evoke some kind of quaint eccentricity like Reagan's jelly beans or Carter's peanuts.
I'm sure "ice cream cone" poll tested well when they were figuring out what Obama should like,

Typical behavior of ghetto food stamp recipients, load up on dessert first before the stamps run out. In Obama's case, they are loading up on vacations and "desserts" before someone finally "changes the locks on the white house."
