They have passed the health bill, they have passed the financial regulations bill and they have snuck stuff into the stimulus package bills. They are going to track your money and your body. Here's the first few things they are doing. This is step one. It will only get worse from here.
According numismaster.com:
...the Health Care Bill mandates, according to Numismaster.com, Starting on January 1st in 2012, S federal law will require coin and bullion dealers to report to the Internal Revenue Service all gold and silver coin purchases and sales greater than $600. No that is not an error, they tacked the gold coin tracking regulations into the health bill. They are just tacking stuff on wherever they can.
As for your body, you will be required to have an "electronic health record", by 2014. They snuck this into one of the "stimulus" bills. The electronic record will include an obesity rating. The information will be required to be on a "national exchange" with only secure access (Hah!). Why the F does your obesity rating have to be on a national exchange? This is a tip off to how micro-managed they are going to attempt to run your life.
Keep in mind that the health bill and financial "reform" bill are thousands of pages, with much of the details left up to the new agencies to fill in. Obama is appointing major league interventionists to head these agencies. They are completely clueless as to how an economy works. Their regs will be over the top. It will stifle America in so many ways, it is difficult to imagine. I was in East Berlin the year before the Wall came down. I saw what constant monitoring and micro-management did to people. It is not pretty. The gray, the drab, the despair was everywhere. When you can only take orders and wait for approvals and are constantly watched, it saps the life out of you. America is going to be changing and the government is going to try and watch you and monitor your vitals, as if you were a lab rat, as it does the changing.
It is not going to be pretty.
Thank a socialist-liberal who helped to push this through and you thought this could never happen, ha,the country of the free? Orwell was only off by 26 years.....
Oh just DUCKY!!!
Well, in that case, I want my gov’t issued chef to prepare all my meals, and my gov’t issued personal trainer to work me out. I need my free masseuse because stress is bad for the body and can cause me to gain weight. I simply cannot be expected to do this on my own.
Very well put. I already have this sense of some presence, "the government," hovering right behind me, or maybe in the back of my head somewhere, not quite controlling yet, but preparing to do so...and I think this sensation ultimately saps the energy and hope of citizens and will make us like the passive, simultaneously scared and hostile citizens of the Soviet countries in no time at all.
2+2=4
I just wonder how all that will mix with an incorporated 2nd amendment and the shear number of weapons in private hands in this country?
The difference between us and the soviets will be the amount and level of the firepower in private hands.
If the Republicans retake Congress, watch for a LOT of major bills of reform to be introduced, including something that Congress needs to tackle right now: income tax reform. When the current system is 70,000-plus pages of undecipherable mess, costs over US$300 BILLION per year in compliance costs, and possibly drove over US$14 TRILLION in American-owned liquid assets to offshore financial centers beyond US borders as an income tax dodge, something needs to be done, in my humble opinion! Imagine if we can cut the cost of compliance to less than 1/3 of the current system and bring back most of that US$14 TRILLION back to the US financial system--our economy would immediately take off like a missile.
I used to think Obama was going to provoke a clash, but for the very reason that you have cited, I don’t think he will.
Instead, it’s just going to be one little thing at a time, with the government restricting more and more of our choices and putting its tentacles into every formerly private area of our lives - but just a little bit at a time.
Nobody is even commenting any more on the stream of crazy, nit-picking “executive orders” coming out of the WH. We have already begun to accept the usurpation of legislative powers and the ignorance (in the sense of ignoring) of our legal system. The press barely even reports it any more.
Obama wants there to be a BMI notation on your “permanent medical record?” Oh, okay. Who would ever have thought we would have accepted even the concept of an individual, centralized “permanent medical record” in the first place?
As we feared
There will be no clash. The huge majority of Americans have no idea what awaits them in either the 0bamaCare or FinReg bills. It will be presented to them situationally and incrementally. They'll bitch and complain from time to time, but in the end, they'll meekly comply.
“Who would ever have thought we would have accepted even the concept of an individual, centralized permanent medical record in the first place?”
They are doing this through the medicare/medicaid angle. If doctors drop those then they don’t have to participate.
The states are already building the Health Information Exchanges though.
Health Care Bill mandates Starting on January 1st in 2012 that you must report to camp see master list for your stat camp number.
You probably wouldn’t want the govt. issued massage therapist.
The difference will be in the courage to use that firepower, and the choice of liberty over security, and the readiness to undergo bloodshed. Personally I believe there won't be a hell of a lot of difference. Nor will there be much ammunition available, anyway.
But like they say: guns don't kill, people kill. Well, guns don't resist oppression either; people resist -- or they don't.
Put another way, clothes don't make the man, and guns don't make the man.
The democrats warned us that Geo. Bush and the repubs would do this, spy on our lives.
Wait a minute !
will require coin and bullion dealers to report to the Internal Revenue Service all gold and silver coin purchases and sales greater than $600.
$600 isnt much - ½ ounce of gold.
One cannot always fight tanks.
However, the neighbor who voted for this, the Media employees who enabled it, the Prius with the "0" sticker, etc. are open for discussion, when the People have nothing left to lose and there is nothing left to take, and your local Death Panel administrator makes a decision you don't like.
