The tree-lined Atherton street where Meg Whitman lives was overrun Thursday afternoon by roughly 1,000 nurses clad in red scrubs, who staged a rally and political skit in front of the Republican gubernatorial candidate's home to demonstrate their opposition.
As curious neighbors watched, nurses from around the state arrived in dozens of buses and marched along Edge Road for a 1 p.m. demonstration organized by the California Nurses Association.
Whitman wasn't home — she was at a campaign event in Southern California — but the rally still attracted local print and TV media and three dozen police officers from around San Mateo County, who kept an eye on the peaceful protest.
"We gotta beat back the Whitman attack!" the nurses chanted as they walked down the street flanked by multimillion-dollar residences while a plane circled overhead with banner reading "Nurses say no to Whitman." The union supports Whitman's Democratic rival, state Attorney General Jerry Brown.
Speaking with reporters, union leaders criticized Whitman, a billionaire and former eBay CEO, who they said is trying to buy the governor's office by spending millions of dollars of her own money on the campaign.
As the crowd of nurses gathered in front of Whitman's white, two-story home, an actress portraying "Queen Meg," complete with a formal dress and a crown, confronted a person wearing a costume shaped like the state of California.
"You are mine, all mine! I'm buying you fair and square!" said Queen Meg, flanked by two bodyguards in suits wearing "Goldman" and "Sachs" sashes, as she pushed the California actor to the ground.
In a statement released by Whitman's campaign,... a retired nurse and member of the newly formed Nurses For Meg Whitman Coalition, pointed to a survey commissioned by the campaign that found 40 percent of licensed nurses support Whitman.

The woman interviewed yesterday by Stuart Varney seemed like a real dimwit who could only repeat DNC talking points, and not very well.
Sounds like an SEIU signature event.
Even in an emergency I would NEVER want ANY of these 1000 so called nurses to attend to me or any of my family. They disrespect the job and humanity. They wore red to be ready for hell because that’s where they will end up.

Katrina Bauer, 27, a nurse who works at the UC-Irvine Medical Center and attended Thursday's rally, said she fears Whitman will cut her pension benefits. "I'm not guaranteed Social Security, so my pension is all that I have left," Bauer said. "If she takes that away, then I'm screwed and I've paid into something my entire life that I'm never going to get."

The left uses brinkmanship as a cover for their lack of moral leadership. Certainly, with all the great conservative minds available we should be able to counter them effectively.
