Coleman won't pursue 2008 voting probe

Former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman says investigations into felons voting illegally in the 2008 election won't cause him to try to change the outcome.

Coleman lost his Senate seat to Democrat Al Franken after a recount and court contest that lasted eight months.

On Wednesday, the Republican said there will always be "a cloud of doubt" and the allegations add to that, but he hasn't sought legal advice on his options and doesn't intend to.

Prosecutors in Minnesota's biggest counties are investigating a conservative watchdog group's allegations that ineligible felons voted or registered to vote illegally in 2008.

Earlier Wednesday, GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty said on Fox News that if the allegations are true, "they may have flipped the election."

He doesn’t sound like a real fighter. I hope they don’t send him back to Congress. You need people with real pairs to be able to fight the devils that are ruining this country.

Forget the election itself; there’s something vitally important about ensuring that the laws are enforced. It distresses me to see the frequency with which major violations, particularly involving political figures on the left, are being ignored by both parties—the Democrats because they’re covering for the criminals; the spineless Republicans because they don’t want to be perceived as politically motivated. No free republic can long survive such indifference.

It took him TWO YEARS to figure this out? Stupid Party is an accurate name.

Is this “taking the high road” or is it just plain cowardice? Either way, this kind of reaction is going to be the death of not only the Republican Party, but the country. Now that these jerks know they can get away with it, they’re even more emboldened than before.

In Coleman’s defense I thought he did a good job fighting to expose the “Oil for Food” corruption in the immediate post Saddam years.

The GOP is a waste of effort. A sinkhole for conservatives’ money, hope and effort, a sinecure for passive aggressive liberals.

letter from Weird Al—

February 26, 2010Dear Mr. Wobbly,

Thank you for contacting me about the Clean Air Act and Senator Murkowski’s EPA amendment. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me on this important issue for Minnesota and the nation.

The overwhelming majority of scientists agree that climate change is real and that steps must be taken to address the threat to public health, our economy, and our national security posed by greenhouse gas emissions. Unfortunately, Senator Murkowski’s proposed amendment would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency (”EPA”) from using the Clean Air Act to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from smoke stacks. Senator Murkowski’s amendment has not yet come up for a vote in the Senate, but if it does, I will oppose it.

Two years ago in Massachusetts v. EPA, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Clean Air Act expressly authorizes the EPA to regulate carbon dioxide emissions if they pose an endangerment to human health. On December 7, 2009, EPA found that greenhouse gases endanger both human health and welfare. I am opposed to any attempt to prohibit the EPA from moving forward in fulfilling its legal obligations under the Clean Air Act to regulate carbon dioxide emissions.

Those 3000 “third party” voters in MN are just as responsible for this country’s ills as these felon voters in MN. They’re all responsible.

Seems like I remember Coleman fighting pretty hard but was screwed by the courts in the end.

GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty said on Fox News that if the allegations are true, “they may have flipped the election.”

Ok here's your chance to show us if you have a spine or not Governor.

Well said sir.

This noblisse obligehas attitude among Republicans does not serve their cause, trivializes elections, and subverts the rule of law.

It's a stretch to see a connection with the dismissal of the lawsuit against the New Black Panther Party? Is it a stretch to connect to the indifference to the possible constitutional intelligibility of the current president to serve in the office?

Elections are either important or they are not. The rule of law is precious or it is not. The Constitution is supreme or it is not.

“Electing” that a$$-clown Franken made the passage of DeathCare possible!!!!

Sue to declare Franken’s election invalid and sue to have the courts declare obamacare invalid!!!!

In the days of the decadent Roman Empire, an emperor made his horse a Senator. In the days of decadent obama-ruled America, the horse’s-a$$ Franken is “elected” Senator!!!

FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!!!!

I can understand Coleman’s side of the issue but, at the end of the day, if he won’t fight to obtain justice for himself, his state and his supporters, do we REALLY need him back in the Senate??

The GOP has enough squishy, linguini spines as it is, we don’t need more.
