Pete Du Pont: Hillary Clinton for President
Wall Street Journal ^ | July 15, 2010 | Pete Du Pont

Posted on 07/14/2010 7:38:26 PM PDT by maggief

America's economy is failing to produce jobs, increase growth or raise confidence, and it will likely get even worse next year. Our federal government's spending has increased to $3.7 trillion this year from $2.98 trillion in 2008. Publicly held national debt is up by $2.4 trillion in less than two years, to about 63% percent of GDP from 40%, and is expected to reach 70% by 2012. Add in the unemployment rate, which has remained above 9.4% for over a year, and America is clearly failing economically.

Next January the economy will be further depressed by increasing tax rates. The top income tax rate will rise to 39.6% from 35%, and the phase-out of itemized deductions and personal exemptions will effectively lift the top bracket to about 40.8%. On New Year's Day the tax on dividends is scheduled to go up to 39.6% from 15%, and come 2013, ObamaCare will add another 3.8%.

Other bad public policies will further drag down the economy. ObamaCare will increase individual costs and expand the deficit. Failing energy policies, from Washington's inept response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to its effort to limit tapping America's oil supplies, will drive up our use of imported foreign oil beyond the current 67% of our country's oil consumption.

He’ll never do it and neither would Hillary.

However, I don’t think Hillary and Bill will sit idly by and watch the destruction of the Democrat party that they have worked so hard to build up. The loss of the House in Nov. will be Hillary’s trigger to resign as SecState, saying she’s tried but can no longer be a part of this adminstration that is heading in the wrong direction. And then run against Obama in 2012.

I also think that if there’s going to be a female candidate for President on the Republican side in 2012, she will damn well make sure there’s one on the Democrat side as well.

HRC will be Obama’s VP for 2012. Biden will be off the ticket.

Heh, that would be pleasant. It will be interesting if he can provide a BC as the Democratic nominee for some States in 2012.

One reason people hate the Democrats is the Health Care Bill. People haven’t been this upset about Health Care since...since Her Thighness was First Lady and tried to ram thru a Health Care Bill in 1993.

(Meanwhile, Bill was ramming something else, but that’s another story.)

these people must smoke crack for breakfast AND lunch.

he starts out proving that the nation is going to hell in a handcart, and his solution is another radical liberal or just her addition as a VP candidate? That’s hallucination logic complete with luminescent unicorns and pink faeries.

Hillary is experienced because of: being a wife of a politician, not finishing a term to a debating society, and doing someone else’s bidding as a secretary.

That’s not the experience we need. We need someone who’s met a payroll, planned his way through and emergency, run a program, directed an army, made decisions...

Anything experienced should apply.

It will be interesting if he can provide a BC as the Democratic nominee for some States in 2012.

The problem is those states that might require BC are more likely the ones that went to McCain, so it may not be an issue for him. I don't know about the legal issue, though. Could a POTUS be elected from votes, say, only 40-45 states?

That could well be checkmate. I think that ticket would be almost impossible to beat. Obama will continue to get 95% of the black vote and with Hillary on the ticket it will be impossible for the GOP to get enough white women to get the 62% of the white vote they’ll need to win.

I hope he doesn’t do that. He’d cruise to victory.

My only hope is his ego would get in the way. The media would report it as him turning to Hillary to save himself and I don’t know if he could handle that. I think he wants to show he can do it on his own and doesn’t need any help. That was one of the reasons he didn’t pick her as VP before. He didn’t want to share the credit, have any first woman VP stories to go along with the 1st black President stories.

Hopefully his ego gets in the way again.

She might be the savior of the Democratic Party, but she is certainly not what America needs.

Does the author realize that Hillary was the originator of government-run healthcare? All Sarah has to do is point that out and Hillary is toast. There's no way Hillary can win the election even though she was Secretary of State, but foreign policy is going to take a back seat to government debt, entitlements, and other domestic issues. She did nothing as Senator to promote job growth in NY state and as First Lady she was just a figurehead with power. Hillary has no executive experience and that's what voters are going to be looking for.

I'm sure though, that the folks at Hillbuzz are salivating over this and will back-stab Palin in a heartbeat. This is why I don't give a rat's ass about Hillary losing the primary because of vote fraud. It happens to Republicans all the time. Why should we carry their water just because it's against Obama?

Could Obama be ready to step down, Hillary selected as his replacement or the VP and ready for 2012?

Sorry, I just don't see it happening. Fiscal issues are going to be the center of any debate and both Obama and Hillary loses credibility.
