Perhaps one of the most ignorant statements ever posted on Free Republic. Maybe you would prefer another place to vomit up such nuggets of stupidity - say the Huffington Post or DU?

I see it’s Lock and Load time here on FR.

The way I see it: Free Republic and the Free Republic depend on our rights of free thought, and to a degree: Free speech. (I know this is a forum, not a public common, yadda yadda) but This guy didn’t make a statement like that on “Free Christian Republic” and I don’t believe he intended to say, or imply, that Christians are violent.

I do, however, believe his statement can be accurate (Follow me here...) that Christians, as ALL religions, spend their entire lives trying to get a perfect understanding of their holiest texts. This is a good thing. His statement is further confirmed by the existence of religious sects - Groups of people who overall believe the same thing but have different understanding and perception of the finer points.

I fall into one of these categories - With myself being a God fearing man who believes that God is VERY real, approaches explainability within the terms of Quantum Physics and that Jesus is VERY likely (Even scientifically) to be a divine birth.

Back on topic: I DO expect a lot of people to object to my own views. I DO NOT expect these objections posted in an open-air forum such as this, nor in a forum that is dedicated and founded on Conservative principles in regards to our Free Republic of the United States of America.

Please, review this thread and see if you can spot the irony in these reactions.

Christianity simply doesn't say "kill the hypocrites" or "kill the apostates" or "kill the Jews".

Islam lays a requirement on each adherent that he or she kill hypocrites, apostates and Jews.

I think they still lag behind the commies in the killing department though.

I say this without any malice towards Christians, per se. But during the First Crusade, there were quite a few dead Jews along the Rhine thanks to rabble-rousing priests of divers rank. Throughout the ages, there have been Christian-inspired pogroms over Jewish blood-libels, conspiracies to poison well waters, just on general principles to punish the “Christ-killers,” not to mention mass expulsions.

I respect and acknowledge that Christians have outgrown these reprehensible practices and doctrines. But do not fool yourself into believing that Christians “NEVER” have been as bad as Moslems, in general or specific. The history of Europe is too replete with examples which debunk that assertion.

I would say, however, that Christians and Christianity did outgrow it, that they are capable of outgrowing it. Islam, however, has more of an uphill battle, thanks to the vicious passages of their scripture to which any zealot Sheikh or Ayatollah can refer. I don’t think they are interested in outgrowing their taste for violence, anyway, only in consummating it.
