Attorney representing 9 federal employees slams Justice Department

A defense attorney representing one of the nine individuals indicted in federal court for looking up President Obama's student loan records characterized the Department of Justice's actions as a political prosecution.

"The only reason my client was prosecuted by the federal government was that happened to look up the student loan records of Barack Obama," attorney David R. Treimer of Davenport, Iowa, told WND.

Treimer represents John Phommivong, a 29-year-old who is the son of parents who fled Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.

Phommivong has pleaded guilty in the case and is awaiting a pre-sentencing conference in court with the prosecutors Aug. 31 and a sentencing hearing scheduled for Sept. 24.

He is charged in the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Iowa with a criminal misdemeanor under 26 U.S.C. Section 1030, a broadly worded section of the federal code devoted to computer fraud that carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine, if convicted.

Phommivong also looked up student loan records for Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and John Wayne, according to Treimer.

"There was no criminal intent on the part of my client," Treimer insists. "He was just bored and to pass the time he used the National Student Loan Data System to look up the student-loan records of celebrities."

Treimer insisted that looking up Barack Obama's student loan records was what triggered his prosecution.

That was my thought as well. No criminal intent == no crime. OTOH, the client has a say in these things as well. He may have told the lawyer to plead him that way. But if not..

I don’t “get it”. Credit bureaus, banks, insurance companies, potential employers, investigative journalists, and the government look up student loan records all the time. Are they all facing jail time?

Normally it needs permission of the individual or a court order. Some records can be looked at by the government folks w/o permission, but even then, permission was given, in effect, when the loan was made. However that's a "for specific uses" only thing.

Bush is very unlikely to have any student loan records because he wouldn't have needed any financial assistance to cover his college expenses.

I dunno. All kinds of people are accessing my records all the time, and I've never given them any permission. I don't have student loans, but it seems like everybody and his brother know my CC balances. I probably signed something somewhere a long time ago, but it is really irritating how much nosy people know. And every time I have refinanced my house, it appears in the newspaper, just as if I have purchased a new house. I even gets congratualtory cards from people.

My take is that Obama, beneath that ‘controlled’ exterior, is seething with hatred. I can envision him saying and doing just enough ‘correct, societally acceptable’ things to sufficiently mask his true feelings and intent such that he could advance to a position of power. To him, this is his chance to remake the world according to his erroneous sense of fairness. His zeal and unwillingness to reconsider his positions is possibly little different from those who would blow themselves up and kill others for their ideology.

So, what did he find out?

I believe there is an 0bama/Black Panther connection going back to 0bama’s time at Columbia College, but can’t prove it.

According to a 1982 New York Times report, Broadway Baby was implicated in an investigation of a series of violent armed robberies in New York — netting more than $2 million over a two-year span — committed by former Black Panthers and Weather Underground members in the early ‘80s.

The manager of Broadway Baby at that time? - Bernardine Dohrn.

The Brinks murders, the ongoing roundup of the killers and the ensuing trial were all over the New York Papers, radio and TV from 1981 to 1984. Barack was living in New York that entire period, and Bill Ayers was attending Bank Street College which was about four blocks from Columbia.

0bama could not have escaped hearing about these events.

I doubt if it was just a coincidence that he lived just a view short blocks from Ayers & Dohrn in NYC, and then again in Chicago. Imagine that, two of the largest cities in two completely different areas of this large country, and they just happened to be neighbors in both places.

Yes, that story about about a Black Muslim getting financial assistance for Obama at Harvard Law School was revealed by a former NYC official named Percy Sutton back during the presidential campaign. The funding supposedly came from a member of the Saudi Royal family, and was transferred via Khalid al-Monsour to Harvard.

Obama is not the only Harvard Law student to receive Saudi financial backing. The practice continued into the period during which Harvard Law Dean Elena Kagan (and SCOTUS nominee) headed the law school and likely continues to this day.
